Escape from Reekadom
Okay, I am just going to try this out. I want to make a short little prompt that I got from this writers club, just to try it out. The prompt is "The dice rolled and someone gasped". Okay, here it goes.
Two bored guards sat at a small table rolling dice back and forth. Neither of them was keeping eye contact on the jail cells beside them and neither of them seemed fully cooperative. One guard had a dark bags underneath his eyes, his face pale with lack of sun. The other guard had his hand on his chin, his face was more pink but he still had bags underneath his eyes. They both yawned and finally glanced over to the rotting cells within the castle. The three cells were all empty except for the one, that had a sleeping prisoner inside. They sighed and the pale Guard shook the dice in his hand. The dice rolled on the table and someone had gasped. They both looked around more alert but nobody was there. They continued the dice rolling, until the pale guard finally gave away his shift and fell asleep. The other guard sighed, he looked back over to the cell and stood up in alarm. The occupied cell was now empty, the cell gate left ajar. He quickly shook the guard awake and he woke up smacking his cracked lips, oblivious about the escaped prisoner.
"Rocktar has escaped, we need to ring the bell." The guard cried at the sleepy guard. suddenly, his eyes grew wide and he stood up looking over at the now vacant cell. He jumped in shock and ran up the narrow staircase to the main floor of the castle. The other guard followed and they darted up to the nearby bell tower. The old guard gave in while running up the stairs. He sat on the steps and told the younger guard to ring the bell for him, the alarmed guard came up to the bell and without hesitating, pulled the giant rope. The giant gong of the bell shook the floor of the bell tower. The guard clutched on tightly on the rope, continuing to ring it four more times. Soon, he heard the screams and cries of the townspeople as they began fleeing out of the kingdom, some bringing there wheelbarrows, and handcarts with them.
The village suddenly got silent. Not even the birds made a peep in the still quietness of the abandoned village. The door of the large stone castle slammed open and the awkward silence broke. The king came storming down the stairs with anger. The pale guard stood in front of him.
"WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED!" The king barked.
"R-rocktar h-had escaped!" the guard stuttered.
"WHAT!" The king started to turn red with anger, you could imagine smoke coming out of his nostrils and ears. The guards behind him stood in position as he briskly turned towards them. He pointed at the gate and yelled.
"GO FIND HIM!" The guards started marching off, leaving the village. The village had became still once again.
