Galaxy
Book 1-The triton Galaxy
You've always known that it is impossible to reach from one galaxy to another in just a couple of days. You have also heard the saying "Nothing is impossible" of course there are a few things that is impossible or near to impossible. I am sure that most of you have heard of the story "A wrinkle in Time" of which I have read many times, it shows of how you could travel to Galaxies through a wrinkle in time. There is of course an easier way that doesn't take you through the 'darkness' or having to take a space ship, or travel by the speed of light, or even just to go through a star gate. It is as simple as pi (3.14), and I am sure this was something that was too obvious to think about, teleporting. Except that most teleportations only reach a certain distance before going out of range, this mechanism still has a range but it reaches further. Although it is not perfect, it does have a few glitches here and there but it is good enough to reach you across galaxies. Maybe in the future people across the world will use it and discover knew galaxies, but right now there is only one person who has it.
Chapter 1- The Rice Field
Kristen sat at the picnic table in the back porch, roasting in the blazing sun. She didn't like the indoors, she was more of an outside person who loves adventures and drawing nature. camping and hunting was especially her favorite thing, she tried to get her family many times to take her camping but they were always too busy. So she would just pull out her two-man tent in her backyard and sleep in it over night, though it wasn't just the same as actually going out into the wilderness. She would try to draw out the nature she wanted to see, she would see a flower and draw it, she would see a pretty tree and draw it, or even the playground in her yard she would draw.
She also drew things that weren't even on the planet. Sometimes she would make her own planet and invent the creatures, the plants, and the environment. One time she made a book for her little sister, Stacy, about taking a trip to the fantasy world. She explained how you had to get there by standing on the core of the earth and saying a special language and you would pop up in the world. She also told about each living fantasy creature and what to avoid and not avoid. She even made the solar system for the planet of which she called 'Kloonan'.
After finishing her lunch, Kristen reached in her pocket and pulled out a blank piece of paper. She pulled out a pencil and started to draw in her perspective of the yard. She drew the playground, the red painted porch, the aspen trees, the bright cloudless sky, and all the sticks and leaves that were littered across the yard. She just did a quick sketch of the yard, she didn't take too much time so she could finish the drawing in just a few minutes. It wasn't long until she finished the drawing, she held it up and compared it to the yard, it was pretty similar. She smiled at her drawing and placed it back on the table, she was now going to start another picture.
Suddenly, a gust of wind whipped up and started to blow her drawing away, her brown hair blowing over her face. Kristen stood up and chased after it, the paper flew to the yard, then into the playground. She climbed up and saw the drawing, the corner stuck into a crack on the wall. She crawled through the tiny playground and snatched her paper. She slid down the slide and sat at the end comparing the picture with the new perspective. She held it in front of her face and then moved it away to find something that the drawing nor what she saw right there was before. There was a boy, his hair so blond it was nearly white. He laid in her lawn unconscious or maybe just resting, the boy wasn't sprawled across the yard, nor was he laying down as if he was sleeping in his own bed.
Kristen hesitated, but slowly walked up to the boy. He looked about her age, about thirteen or fourteen she could guess. He had a hansom look that made Kristen want to just wake him up and kiss him. She didn't dare even touch him though, she stood a few feet from him staring down at the boy, wondering how on Earth he got there, or why even he was in her yard. For only a few minutes did Kristen stare until his eyes flickered open. He had the most brilliantly bright blue eyes Kristen had ever seen , they were as beautiful as he was hot. He sat up and Kristen backed away a few steps, he rubbed his head and looked around.
He hopped up to his feet in surprise. He seemed alert and his face showed that he didn't know where he was. He looked over at Kristen and started walking up to her, Kristen walked back. He seemed curious and it made Kristen feel uncomfortable with him coming up to her. He then stopped and looked down at the ground, he started shaking his head and muttering something that was too quite for Kristen to hear. He then looked back up at Kristen and smiled.
"I am so sorry to intrude, I don't know what has gone with me. It must be just the travel sickness that is making me making it awkward." the boy said, he didn't have a deep voice like how she imagined a thirteen year old boy to have, nor did he have a high squeaky voice.
"Where did you come from?" She asked.
the boy pointed at where he was laying down.
"I came from there." He teased.
Kristen shook her head.
"No, I mean you just popped out of nowhere unconscious in my backyard, where did you come from?" She asked.
"Well, it's quite an interesting story that I am not sure you would understand." he exclaimed.
"I want to hear it, I'll totally believe you. Everything odd here is different everywhere else." She said.
The boy rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well, alright. I came from a different planet, I have been traveling and ended up by accident here." he said.
Kristen wasn't sure what to say, maybe he was just teasing, or maybe he was telling the truth.
"How do you travel?" She asked.
The boy reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue USB drive, he held it up to her.
"This is a teleportation drive, you have to connect it to a local object within the galaxy and it will take you to the place you program it to." He exclaimed.
Kristen nodded, trying to figure out whether he is really still telling the truth or not. She then put her hands on her hips.
"So do you have any more proof?" She said.
"Matter of fact I can. Do you not believe me or something?" he asked.
She shrugged her shoulders.
"Well, I am not sure exactly. I want to believe you but I also don't, the reason why I want to is because I told you I believe you for one thing, and I like to find things that sound abnormal and nearly impossible. But if I believe you, maybe I just made a fool of myself and got tricked into believing you." She said without taking a breath.
The boy twirled the flash drive in his hand.
"So you want more proof so you know you are not a fool correct?" He asked.
She nodded, putting her hands behind her back. The boy grinned and stuffed the flash drive back in his pocket.
"Well, then lets show you an adventure. Where would you like to go?" he asked.
Kristen looked around her and shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know, China maybe?" She said, trying to decide.
"All right, lets just program this to China and we will be off then." he said looking around the yard for an object.
Yah Right, like he is going to take me to China right this minute. Kristen thought. The boy grinned as he spotted the old, wooden birdhouse that was hidden behind leaves and vines. He pulled it out and observed the rotten wood structure as if it was a rare antique.
"I'm Cody by the way." The boy said, still keeping eye contact on the bird house.
"Kristy. What are you doing with my birdhouse?" She asked.
Cody looked up at Kristy and held it out in front of her.
"Is it all right if I use this?" Cody asked her.
Kristen nodded, she didn't care much about the rotting, old bird house that not even the birds liked. Cody sat down on the green grass in the shade of the trees and observed the birdhouse a little more. He then pulled out his Flash Drive and pulled off the blue cap. It looked just like a normal USB drive, but there was something that not even the newest upgraded flash drives used. It had a tiny black button, the boy pressed the button and the flash drive turned into a tiny laptop in Cody's hands. Kristy's mouth dropped open as she saw the flash drive unfold into the tiny laptop.
"This is far more than just a USB drive you know." Cody mentioned.
"Yah..." She said, staring at the laptop.
"Yep, the Flash Drive is the computer. It is quite nice, so you can hook this computer up with another computer with no problem, and right now I am just programming the Drive to China." he said, concentrating hard on the tiny screen.
Kristen seemed to get closer and closer to believing what he was saying. It actually did look like a flash drive, but it also did look like a miniature laptop too. The laptop was just slightly bigger than the touch screen iPod and just barely the size of a Kindle. He then grinned from ear to ear and folded the laptop up until it was the tiny, blue USB drive once again. He took the Drive and dropped it into the tiny bird hole. The birdhouse suddenly started to look lighter, it was in fact starting to glow brown. Kristy backed away.
"Don't worry, its just charging up. It needs a little bit of time." Cody said, looking up at the frightened Kristen.
"I really shouldn't be scared. Because if it is just to do a silly prank on me, you are doing pretty good at it. Are you related to a magician or something?" She asked.
Cody shook his head and put the birdhouse down.
"Nope, I am as human as you are. I even came from here, I am an earthling (Or that's what everybody else calls us from the galactic enterprises) just like you." He said.
Kristy pointed at the birdhouse.
"Then why do you have that UN earthly object then?" She asked harshly.
"Oh this?" he tossed the birdhouse in his hand, "My dad gave this to me. He was a scientist, he was so smart that he could have been next in line with Einstein and Tesla, but he had died before he became famous, or before he could share this to the world." he said a smile showing that he was proud of his father.
Kristen nodded, trying not to show that not a single thing that he was showing or telling was a total lie and trick. Then something made her jump when the birdhouse started shaking in Cody's hands.
"Well it looks like the teleporter is almost charged up. I guess it makes sense since China is so close compared to the places I have been." he said as the vibrating wood structure came still.
Cody put the birdhouse on the ground in front of him and looked down at it. Its glow started fading until it looked just like how Cody found it within the shrubbery.
"Ok, the teleporter is now ready to use. But I do need to tell you a few things before we go." he said .
Kristen nodded, still trying to play her part.
"This is very powerful and it could bring you off balance as we reach the other side. I have learned the further you go, the more it will bring you off balance. that was why I was unconscious when you found me because I just traveled a couple galaxies to get here." Cody then started to look through her and squinted his eyes in thought, "Though, I didn't really mean to be here, I was actually planning to go a little further. But I guess my teleporting drive has been having some technological difficulties lately."
His eyes opened wider and he actually looked over at her. He was talking to her, just in a thought out loud too.
"Well, now that you know about my warning you can try this out. I have had plenty of practice with my father, but since this is the first time I want you to hold on tightly to my hand." he mentioned.
Kristen nodded. She felt a little anxiety since she now gets to hold a cute boys hand right when she got to meet him. She reached her hand over and wrapped her fingers around his comforting hand. Cody reached over and looked over at Kristy before touching it, he nodded to her telling her that they were going to go. Kristy tried to sound excited, but she knew nothing would happen once they touch the birdhouse.
"one, two,three" he said softly.
As soon as he said three, He and Kristy touched the birdhouse. Suddenly, Kristy felt a sudden jerk as if she was scooped up from a low riding jet. She felt the air getting knocked out of her, and she couldn't see her yard any more. For only a few seconds did she see streaks of colors pass by her until she ended up standing in the streets of a rice field. She felt extremely lightheaded and Cody kept her on her feet, before she fell over from shock and pressure. She closed her eyes, trying to get rid of the dizziness she had after the unreal trip she just had.
After she got rid of the dizziness she opened her eyes and screamed. Cody backed away, nearly falling into the shallow water of the rice stalks. She started to hyperventilate her face turning red, Cody started to calm her down. he started to rub her back and she started calming down. She looked around her, seeing the tall stalks of rice, she spotted women harvesting the rice placing it in baskets, and saw the shallow water that covered the bottoms of the stalks.
"Cool isn't it?" he said, grinning brighter than ever.
Kristen rapped her arms around him, looking around her. She made a frightened nod and took a few steps from Cody, she continued to look around her. They were standing on a pathway in between the field's of rice that reached for acres. A woman came up to them and started to talk in Fluent Chinese, pointing at the birdhouse in Cody's hands, and expanding her arms to show why they were there. Neither Cody or Kristy knew Chinese so they were oblivious of what the woman was saying.
"Um, we don't speak Chinese." Cody said, pronouncing every word.
The woman stopped talking and stared at them for a moment, she had a confused expression on her face. She then nodded and made a big smile.
"Oh... you American. I am Huian, you tourists?" She asked, her speaking chunky and hard to understand.
They nodded. Huian stepped out on the path. She wasn't very tall, her feet were very tiny too. She had long black hair that was held back in a high ponytail with a blue comb stuck inside it. She had a big, vibrant, white smile that made you feel happy to see her as a stranger.
"This place is not normally for tourists, there really isn't much to see. I will escort you back if you would like." She said, waving her hand to follow.
"That would be great." Cody said, his smile coming back.
Huian put her basket of rice on the side of the path and led them down the path. They really weren't sure when they were going to reach the other side, they felt bad that Huian is going to have to come all the way back to finish her work. They continued down the dirt path until they started to see a street that they never noticed from afar, across the street was just more rice fields.
"Where is the car you have?" She asked.
Cody and Kristy looked at each other, thinking about how to explain to her that they don't have one, but ended up in the rice fields.
"We took the bus, our parents wanted us to meet them at..." Cody wasn't sure how to end his story, he wasn't even sure what part of China he was in,nor did Kristy know either.
"Oh, I know what you mean. Come, I can get you ride." Huian said, walking down the rocky street.
It didn't take long until she got to a tiny blue car on the edge of the street. It just happened to be her car so Kristy and Cody hopped in the petite car and she drove to the destination they really weren't sure about. After a while of sitting in the cramped car they started to see the end of the rice fields. She continued passed the end of the rice fields until she got to an old house on the side. She stopped in front of it and they hopped out. The woman bed them farewell and drove off back into the rice fields.
They saw a sign in the front and saw the Chinese symbols. Underneath the symbols were the English letters saying "visitor center". Then they just realized that just passed the visitor center was a town of which looked like an ancient village. They decided to enter the visitor center to find more about the ancient village. As they entered they saw a post that told about the town. It said about a temple a couple miles from here that has ancient ruins and a beautiful pond that reached throughout the backside of the ancient temple. They read more about it until they both wanted to go see the temple for themselves.
"But I don't have any money, how will we get there?" She asked.
Cody shrugged his shoulders.
"I don't either."
"So... it's either we walk or we-"
"Find a different way." Cody interrupted.
Kristen nodded and they looked out of the window of the Visitor center to find a tourist bus park in front. They both smiled at each other and watched as tourists started piling out of the Chinese bus. They ran out of the doorway and got into the bus with other tourists, hoping the bus driver wouldn't notice that they didn't have a pass. Of course both of them knew that it was a trick that wasn't very good.
Ever since Kristy ended up popping in China she had trusted Cody more. It was very difficult for her to understand that she was standing in a rice field after teleporting from her own backyard. But after really thinking about it, this was not a dream at all but it had actually happened. She know was full of curiosity and was more comfortable to be with Cody. She has never really been to China, nor any other foreign country in her life and this seemed amazing to her. So as she and Cody would get into the bus, she would think of how exciting it is to be going to a Chinese temple, IN CHINA! She jumped around in her seat, hoping when the bus was to get to the temple already.
Then the bus stopped and they hopped out. The temple had a large, beautiful gate that could fit ten elephants side by side through it. It had the colors of red and green and black, with beautiful patterns reached across it. They entered through the vastly gate and was standing in front of the most beautiful temple they had ever seen. It was even more beautiful than the gate itself, it had a curled, black rooftop, the walls were a bright red, and the borders of the corners and the doorways were green. It had patterns of the beautiful Chinese flowers covered over the red walls.
They entered the open temple. The inside was immaculate, it had statues of past Emperor's, the whole inside was painted black and it made a cool touch to it. They reached the other end of the temple and noticed the large pond full of Beautiful orange fish swimming around in the clear blue water. The pong had little Lillie pads scattered a crossed it with its white, fluffy flower over the top. They sat at the edge of the pond and watched the fish swim by, there orange scales sparkling in the sunlight.
Kristy remained watching the fish and admiring the scenery as Cody started to look for an object to get back home. After finding a Chinese noodle box littered on the ground for there tool, he set himself back by Kristy once again. He placed the box next to him and he started his quick programming on his mini computer and placing the drive in the box. The red symbols on the box started glowing but the rest remained the same, Kristy though did no pay attention to the glowing letters.
Kristy dipped her feet in the pond and giggled as a fish came and started nibbling her toes. It felt so weird, she let the fish do that for a while then started swishing her feet around in the warm pond water. She tapped a flower on one of the Lillie Pads and smelled the fragrant smell of the Chinese air. The fish were now swimming around, ignoring the feet in there pond water, nobody else was around except for them and it felt quite peaceful.
Cody touched Kristy's lap and without realizing it, he snatched the box and they were going through a blur of color. Kristy didn't freak out this time, nor did she enjoy it. She was sad they were returning she had a fun time to explore a part of China, she liked to see a rice field for the first time, and enter an actual ancient temple and relax in a beautiful garden full of pink trees and a clear blue pond. Then before she knew it they were sitting on the other side of the world once again, though it wasn't her backyard like what she expected, but a playground in a city any of them knew about.
Chapter 2- Persuasion
Kristy sat on the bench with Cody, sad that she didn't get to stay any longer. It felt like she was only there for a few minutes but it was actually a couple of hours in China. For a while neither Cody or Kristy were familiar with the area, though they did know it was still in the United States. They observed around them for a while, trying to figure out where they were. Then it all clicked all at once at Kristy.
"I know where we are, my friend just lives down that street. But her house is a few miles from my house." She said a bit confused of how they ended up there.
"Oh I know why we aren't in you backyard. It is because where we were going to end up in one spot on the other side of the world and if we stayed we would have been in your backyard. But since we moved a few miles North we ended up a few miles north from your house." He said almost making no sense.
Kristen nodded, putting it all together. She and Cody then knew where to go and started heading towards her friends house down the street. When Kristy knocked at first nobody answered then after the second time her friend opened the door. She smiled as she saw Kristy but you could also see the discomfort with Cody around.
"Hey Kristy," She said cheerfully.
"Hey Becca, we are wondering if we can get a ride." Kristy said.
Becca looked at them and smiled, still feeling uncomfortable with Cody standing around. Cody seemed to stand behind Kristy, his hands behind his back and his body swinging back and forth. Becca glanced at him for a second then made a wry smile.
"Of course, come on in Kristy." She said, signaling for them to come on it.
Kristy came in without any hesitation, while Cody slowly walked in feeling almost as uncomfortable as Becca was with him. The girls talked for a long while, and Cody stood out in the middle of them room mumbling words like "Hurry up", "Come on", "Can we go?", "lets get going now", and "Lets go.". After a while Becca fetched her mom and they got into her blue minivan out in the garage.
Cody sat in the backseat of the Minivan and saw the girls sitting in the bench in front of him laughing and talking. Cody didn't feel left out, he just wanted to get out of the car. After a few minutes the minivan parked in front of Kristen's house and he quickly hopped out before Kristy could even get to the door. Kristy said goodbye to Becca and they slipped into her backyard. The backyard looked ghostly white in the full moonlight and it felt creepy to be standing in the middle of it. Kristy started to walk towards the playground until she heard a soft crunch. She looked down and noticed the piece of paper she had drawn her yard. She picked it up and stuffed it in her pocket.
"Well, I better get to bed." Kristy said, starting to head towards the back door.
"Ok... well... good night." Cody said, bummed out about the day being over.
Kristy opened her backdoor and entered her house. Cody remained standing out in the backyard a wry smile across his face. Kristy closed the door and walked into the basement of where her bedroom was. She checked her alarm clock on her bed and noticed it was only nine o'clock. She felt tired, and she wasn't much of a night owl anyway. She slipped on her pajamas and got into her comfortable bed. She had a long day, and a surprising day too, she wasn't used to the fact that you could teleport to China in just a few second and here she was back at home.
She wasn't sure whether she wanted such an experience all the time, she was okay with the one time. It felt so different in China and she made such good friends with Cody in just half a day. She also thought about his hot face, his bright, blue, beautiful eyes that just added the touch to attract all the girls, and the hair so blond in looked almost white. He was defiantly one-hundred percent human for sure. Then she thought about his dad, how he could be even smarter than Einstein or any other genius's, but died before he could make History. She thought it would be cool to have a teleportation drive for herself, then what if she never used it. It was like trying to find a time to slip through to have a vacation, but you get too buisy to go that long. She had learned in her earlier years that the things that she really wanted just ended up not as fun as you expect it to be once you have it as your own. Kristy switched off her light and stared up at the ceiling, she just couldn't go to sleep. After a while of staring at the ceiling her eyes finally shut and she fell into her dreams.
Her dream was that she was sitting on the porch of her house until suddenly a space ship lands in her yard and short green aliens come out of it. Then suddenly she was in the ship wearing an odd space suit and doing the hula with two other green aliens while a tiny fluff ball with a face watched her. She then was back in her yard without the ship but still with the grinning fluff ball. The fluff ball then started to grow sharp teeth and the orange fur would turn black. She then knew the fluff ball had turned into a vampire, she started to run away from the creepy fuzz ball until she reached inside her house. Kristen leaned against the wall and then peeked over the window to see the vampire fluff ball glaring at her with his red eyes. wait this is just a dream, I won't just get bitten and turn into a vampire. She thought, then she opened her door and right in front of her was the vampire fluff ball and her confidence decreased. The fluff ball jumped up to bite her neck and she suddenly felt chills tingle up her back.
Kristy woke up in fright, her heart was beating very fast and she could feel goosebumps forming up her arms. She looked of to her doorway as if the vampire fluff ball would be right there but it was somebody else. Cody was leaning against the doorway, his arms folded. His hair seemed to show very clearly in the darkness, his eyes just looked like a dark blue. He walked further into her bedroom, and looked down at Kristen.
"Come with me," He said in a soft tone but not quite a whisper.
"Come with you, come with you where?" She asked.
Cody bent over and picked up a sock that was left on the floor. He twiddled with it and looked back over to Kristen.
"Come with me to visit other worlds. I have only visited but a few planets and I have felt very lonely, I need a friend to come along and explore with me. Please, can you come with me?" He pleaded.
Kristen wasn't sure what to say, this was crazy. She had only met Cody as if yesterday and he has already called her a true friend. Then also if Cody trusts her enough then she could see why he wanted her to come along for an adventure. She rubbed the back of her neck.
"I-I don't know. This is something that I would never think I could do in my life." She said not keeping eye contact with him.
"I have a planet I want to go that is so far away that not even alien life goes there. The planet is only known as an unknown star and I want to be the person who discovers it, but I can't do it alone." He explained.
This started to excite Kristen a little more, she had always wanted to make history. Maybe someday scientists will post her on the news saying Thirteen year old Boy and girl discovers an unknown star. Kristen always loved adventures and this was for sure going to be the biggest adventure she can find in her life. She knew she was going to regret it if she doesn't let herself go, this was going to be her one and only chance she was going to get.
"W-what about my family, if I go we probably won't be home for a long time and my family will start to worry." Kristen mentioned.
Cody held out his drive in front of her, holding her sock in the other hand.
"This drive can do a lot of things, and one of the things it can do is to slow down time. So I can slow down time here on earth by thirteen minutes per day while we are out exploring." He said popping up his laptop and starting the programming.
"So you mean that every day we are away from earth it has only been thirteen minutes here?" She ref-raised.
Cody nodded and shut his laptop.
"Yep, so do you want to go or not?" He asked folding up his laptop back into flash drive size.
Kristen looked around her, putting her finger on the bottom of her lip. She had to think about this, especially since he was truly trying to do whatever he can to bring her with him. She enjoyed Cody's company, she liked how she got a little sample of China for the first time, and she liked how everything just works out smoothly with Cody. Though she nearly swore to herself that she would not go on anything else like that again, but Cody's request is even bigger than just visiting China. But what will happen if she accepts and the trip ends up a pure disaster. Though it seems like Deja vu all over again with debating whether he was lying or being truthful. She sighed and knew Cody was a pretty trustful boy so far as she knew him.
"All right, I'll go." She said
Cody nearly jumped for joy, he grew a large smile.
"But, you need to let me pack a few things and get dressed real quick." She said.
Cody nodded and left the room, allowing Kristy to close the door. Kristen closed the door and switched her light on, and she went straight towards her dresser. She didn't even want to know what time it was in the night, though she was wide awake she knew she would probably feel even more tired if she saw the time. Kristy got into a quick set of clothes and looked for her shoulder bag so it will be easier to carry around. She stuffed her Pajamas and couple pairs of clothes, some bathroom supplies, a pocket knife, and some other supplies she thought would be helpful. She swung the bag over her shoulder and opened her bedroom door, Cody came up to her with a face asking if she was ready. She nodded and they started walking up the stairs until Kristen just remembered something.
"Hold on!" She said rushing back downstairs.
She ran back in her room and pulled out a notebook that was full of white pages, she grabbed a pencil and a pencil sharpener and stuffed them all in the bag. Then she came back upstairs where Cody was waiting for her.
"You never know when you see something cool enough to draw." She said, grinning.
"Well, it will probably be good to have drawings of our knew discoveries anyway." He said as he opened the back door of her house.
Kristy suddenly couldn't go outside, as if the vampire fluff ball was standing on her porch. She grabbed the door and carefully stepped out into the dark night. There was no moon that night so the only thing that lit up the sky was the tiny stars that faded in the city lights. Though there was no vampire fluff balls outside, Kristen always seemed to see things in the middle of the night that was not really there. She ran over to Cody and wrapped her arms around him, shaking from the imaginary Fluff ball. She then looked up at Cody and looked back at the where the fluff ball was supposed to be but wasn't there any more. She sighed of relief to realize that she was just seeing things.
Cody had already started to program his drive to there first planet. He was going to use Kristy's sock as the teleporting object. It seemed to take longer to program than it took to go to China, but they were both patient enough to wait for it to load.
"So, where are we going first?" She asked.
"I was thinking we can explore a planet I have been before, so you can get an experience without me being oblivious too. Then after that one then we can start checking out planets I have not quite explored yet." He said, his eyes stuck on the tiny screen.
"Sounds good." Kristy agreed leaning against the wood railing on her porch.
Kristy tried to look over at the tiny screen of his mini laptop but Cody moved it away. Cody stared at the screen that was probably just loading, then she jerked back when he rose his head. He folded the laptop into its original shape once again and stuffed it in her sock that he had in his hand. The sock suddenly started to glow, turning a neon yellow as if a black light was put in it instead of a USB drive. Cody placed the sock on the ground and waited for it to settle down to the socks original color. It seemed like about half and hour before the sock turned white once again. For a while Cody just looked down at the sock and waited before the right time. Then he crouched over, Kristy did the same.
It seemed awkwardly quiet for a while then Cody broke the silence with a long sigh. He looked over at Kristen and put a finger up, he mouthed the word one. Then his second finger came up and you could hear the tiny whisper as he said "Two", then three and they both placed there hands on the sock. Kristy once again felt the pull as she was being pulled away from her yard, she didn't see color this time as she went through the teleporting process but instead just strokes of black. She could breathe quite clearly while teleporting to China, but this was different. It was as if her throat was blocking her airway, she couldn't gasp for air, she felt it harder and harder to breathe. She was moving so fast she could not move and couldn't breathe or even talk. Her mouth could not open to speak, she felt so much pressure coming upon her all at once, it was overwhelming her. She couldn't look over to see if Cody was beside her, and she couldn't feel the sock in her hand anymore.
The streaks started to slow down until she could see a dark land. She could feel herself being thrown on the hard ground, her body rolling down a hill. She felt grass as she reached the bottom of the hill and before she could have a better look at the landscape she passed out, everything fading into darkness.
Chapter 3- Rinitsa and the Ganganguan
Cody woke up and rubbed his head, he had fallen into a hedge that separated the forest from the city. He ended up at the forest part and nothing seemed familiar to him. The last time he was here he had turned up right in the middle of town square, and nearly cracked his head open. He got up and looked over the hedge to see the cheerful city, people buzzing everywhere around the streets. This planet was called 'Frigartsa', it was known for its fine wood crafting. Though Frigartsa has lots of similarities with Earth it also has its differences. Frigartsa is like a earth without all the science we know. It is a simple life with no transportation besides your own feet, no light but the sun itself, no processed or unnatural materials, and they used all fresh food. The people of Frigartsa are all vegetarian, they eat all fruits and vegetables picking it right from there own gardens. There houses contained more windows than the walls themselves so it was always bright in there homes on a sunny day.
Cody climbed over the hedge and stood in front of a small child. She looked up at him, staring at his strange clothes. Her eyes filled with tears and she ran off, rushing into her home. Cody walked down the street, trying to look for Kristy. He and Kristy had separated after she had released the sock and they ended up going different directions. They were supposed to be right by each other but right before they were to land she released the sock and she was tossed somewhere further off. He knew she was somewhere, but where exactly? He then thought about an old friend he had met the last time he was here, he started heading towards his house, hoping he would be of any help. He spotted his old friends house and knocked at the wicker door. A short boy about twelve years old opened the door and stared at Cody for a moment.
"Hello Rinitsa, its me." Cody said.
Rinitsa stared at him for a while, trying to recognize him. Then it clicked.
"Coditsa, how are you doing. Why did you come back so soon?" He asked.
Cody nodded, not forgetting about Rinitsa calling him Coditsa instead of Cody.
"I just came back for another visit, this time I brought a friend"
Rinitsa let Cody have a seat and he sat on one of the bamboo (or at least it looked like bamboo) seats that had a soft, dried grass cushion. Rinitsa wasn't very tall, he was short and petite for his age and reached probably a little lower than Cody's chest. Rinitsa walked out of the room and came back in with a wood mat with a wicker bowl full of fruit. He placed it on the table in the middle and sat on the other side of Cody.
"So who is this friend of yours Coditsa?" He asked offering himself off of a strawberry.
"Well Rini, that is why I came here for. We got separated while traveling here and I am wondering if you could help me find her." Cody wondered.
"Ok, so your friend is a girl?" Rini asked.
Cody nodded and grabbed a very ripe plum out of the bowl.
"I would love to help you find her, why don't we look right now?" Rini asked.
"Sounds good to me, I need to find her soon, so we don't end up getting further and further away from each other." Cody mentioned.
"Well, lets get going then Coditsa." Rini said standing up.
Rini led Cody towards the door. They walked into the dirt street and started looking around, asking people and looking on the side streets. They looked around but nobody knew about the girl with strange clothing around, they even checked the shops and houses to find her. Then after looking and looking in the city, they started heading towards the forest. The forest was quite vastly and both of them knew it was going to take some time to find her if she was in the forest.
"There is a meadow on the other side of town, maybe she if over there." Rini said.
So Rini and Cody started heading towards the other side of town. Cody knew the forest was probably going to be his last resort to look in the forest if he can't find Kristy. He also knew Kristy wouldn't just walk further and further into the forest. They then found the other end of town and they saw a large meadow, at first it was just dirt then there was a hill that rolled down until it reached the long, wild grass. They ran down the hill and looked through the long grass trying to find any sign of Kristen. Then Cody spotted something black further into the meadow. They ran over and noticed it was just a giant rock.
The big black rock seemed out of place though and then it clicked. Rini had heard that the rock somehow led to a secret passage underneath the ground. They looked around the rock trying to find a doorway or lever but they could find nothing. Then they started to lift the rock but it was two heavy even for the both of them, or maybe is was bolted to the ground. Cody started looking around the meadow while Rini continued to look for any way to get underground. Then Cody found a wooden door close to the rock, it was hidden underneath a pile of cut grass.
"I don't think the rock has anything to do with the door underneath the ground." Rini mentioned as they stared down at the door.
They both worked at the rusted latch but the door would not budge. The door was rotten and old and Cody suddenly got an idea, he stood up and raised his foot. He stomped as hard as he could on the board and he started to hear a crack. Rini started to help stomping down but his tiny feet didn't help, so he started just jumping on it. The door suddenly grew a big crack and Cody had to catch Rini before he fell in.
"I'll go first." Rini said, smoothing back his black hair.
Cody nodded and Rini hopped into the crack in the door. Cody came in after and they were suddenly in a dark room. The looked around, hoping to find a doorway somewhere. Rini was used to the dark ,but Cody needed to find a light somewhere though there was probably not any light around. Suddenly, a bright light came from one end and Rini was blinded by the unnatural light.
A person was standing out in the doorway holding a flashlight, instantly Cody knew who the person was at the door. Kristy didn't move, she remained at the doorway. You couldn't tell what face she had in the dark, her flashlight only gave a faint glow in the room.
"Kristy come on!" Cody called to her.
"I can't" She said, her voice shaking.
"Why?" Cody asked, confused.
Kristy didn't respond, she wasn't even looking at them anymore. She began screaming as a giant blue claw wrapped around her waist. She was pulled away from the doorway and the door slammed shut. Rini and Cody ran over to the door and tried to open the heavy door. They were able to pull it just open enough to slip inside. Rini easily slipped through, but Cody seemed to have a little hard time even with how thin he was. The room inside was even more darker than the room that they entered in. Rini didn't seem scared of the dark, but he was scared of the unnatural light of Kristy's flashlight further off into the tunnel they just so happened to be in. They couldn't hear her screaming any more but they could still follow her flashlight.
They walked further down the tunnel, Rini wrapping his skinny arms around Cody. The light seemed to fade further and further down the tunnel, making it difficult to see it. They wanted to run, but knew that if they could the monster would hear them. Cody then pulled out his teleportation drive, he bent down and felt around blindly for something useful. He found a cylinder like object and felt around it to find an opening. Cody flipped open his laptop and dimmed the light. Rini pointed at the screen like he remembered this from the last time Cody was here. Cody nodded as if Rini had already asked and started doing a quick programming. The loading finished quick (Probably because the distance was close) and he put it in the cylinder-can-like object. He hid it under his shirt as the object started to glow but it still shown through his shirt. Rini tried standing in front of Cody to block the light from the monster.
The light then lowered down until it was dark in the tunnel once again. He pulled it out from under his shirt and dropped it on the ground. He grabbed Rini's hand and quickly touched the object without saying anything else. They appeared still in the tunnel, but they knew they were defiantly in a different part of the tunnel. Rini then start shaking when the boys heard hoarse breathing above there heads. Cody held his breath, trying not to make a sound with the creature close by. Then something fuzzy started to move up his side, then sliding up to his face. He tried not to shake, not even taking a single gasp of air. Then the hand moved and Cody knew where it was going to move next. A few moments later Cody heard a shrill scream next to him and then another noise. This was not a pretty noise, it was a giant roar from the creature. He felt the floor shaking as the monster seemed to stomp in anger, its noise echoing in the tunnel. Then they heard something else that brought there hopes up. It was the sound of cracking, as if the monster was breaking the ceiling.
There was a sudden light up above them, and both Rini and Cody knew that that light was the familiar light from the sun. They could now see the entire creature, it had long, blue fur, and big, black crow eyes, and long fangs that reached as long as a toddler. Though they couldn't find Kristy, she wasn't in the creatures paw anymore, but the creature had the flashlight. They looked around and couldn't find Kristy around the creature. The creature roared once again and started breaking more of the ceiling. Now that more light was coming into the tunnel they started to see what was behind them and they were glad they didn't back away. A giant hole was behind them, reaching so far down that the bottom could not be seen for miles. They moved forward but the creature stomped his feet as they got closer.
Rini looked pale and shaken in the light and couldn't move any more. Cody put the can in Rini's clammy hand and he ran up to the creature, the creature roared and screamed trying to snatch him. Cody managed to dodge his feet and claws and ended up on the other side of the angry, blue creature. Ok, this is going to be easy. Just push the monster into the giant hole. Cody thought.
"Hey you!" The monster turned around. "Yah you, what are you doing down here aye, stealing girls and keeping them captive?" He said, his arms rose in a threat.
The creature backed away, as if he was scared of him. Cody started doing threatening moves to the creature and the creature started backing closer and closer to the hole. But the creature was smarter than he thought, he knew the hole was there and he stopped. Cody tried to threaten some more, but the creature didn't dare go any further. The creature than roared and swung his arm at Cody, and he ducked, dodging the swing. The creature then shrieked thumping its chest with his fist, then had another swing hitting Cody hard.He came flying and hit the dirt wall, knocking the air out of him. Cody managed to get back up to his feet and stood in front of the creature once again. The creature took a step towards him and got ready to attack. Cody couldn't do anything, the monster was too close to run away from. The monster then started his attack, but right before it hit Cody a flash of blue light struck the monster.
The monster screamed and took a step back. Another flash of light struck the monster and it took another step back. The monster was suddenly on the very edge of the hole, then the third light struck the monster and it went falling down the deep hole. The screams of the monster fading as it fell further and further down into the deep hole until you couldn't hear it anymore. Cody looked behind him and found Rini holding his Teleportation drive, the end a faded glow of blue. RIni made a wry smile at Cody then fainted. Cody ran over and put the drive back in his pocket, he looked around the now lit tunnel but still no sign of Kristy.
"Kristy!Kristy!" He hollered.
Suddenly he saw a head pop out from up above. Kristy smiled as she saw Cody look up at her in surprise.
"How did you get up there?" he asked.
"Come up here and I will tell you." She said.
Kristen put her hand out. Cody came over to Rini and Kristy helped pull him up, then cody reached for her hand and she pulled him up. They were on the top of the hill, the village wasn't too far off in the distance. Cody sat on the edge of the hill and Kristen sat next to him.
"So, how did you get up here?" He repeated.
"Well, I have been up here the whole time actually." She mentioned, picking a grass.
"But, I saw you down there." He wondered.
"Oh, that wasn't me down there. He used the image of me to trick you guys into coming to his lair. He actually wanted you to fall into the hole, not himself."
"Well, how does this work then?" Cody asked just as Rini started waking up.
"Oh, I am guessing he found me on the bottom of the hill and used the image of me to trick you guys. After doing some research in that library at the end of town I found out that Ganganguon's normally look for three people. The first one is to use for copying there image for a hulicinations it can create, then the other two is so he can lead them to his lair."
"So the monster is a Ganganguon?" Rini asked getting up off his feet.
Kristy nodded, not sure about anything else to say. The three of them walked into the village and Rini invited Cody and Kristen to dinner. They accepted the offer and they started heading towards Rini's little house in the corner of town. They sat at the table and ate the dinner of Vegetable soup.
"So, Kristsa how did you end up meeting Coditsa?" Rini asked.
"Kristy," Kristy corrected.
Rini nodded and Kristy told him about how she met him in her yard then suddenly became friends. She even explained about there trip to China and how she was woken up to come here by Cody. Rini seemed very interested by her story and wanted to hear more but Kristy really didn't have much to explain. Rini seemed to admire her, he sat at the table googly eyed. He sighed loving the fact that he was sitting with a girl for the first time. Girls were never really interested in Rini, for one thing he was shorter than most of them and was orphaned, living alone at home all day. He always wanted to at least make a friend with a girl but none of them were quite interested in him, though Kristy didn't seem to push away from him like what all the other girls did.
Kristen started snapping in front of Rini, trying to snap him awake from his daydreaming. Rini blinked several times and smiled at Kristen.
"You know Kristsa, you are a cute girl. Not a lot of girls seem to like me a lot, but you seem a bit interested in me right?" He said without really thinking about what he just said out loud.
Kristy slapped him. She didn't mind Rinitsa but not so much about having a crush on him. Rini rubbed his cheek and smiled.
"So you do like me." He said sarcastically.
Kristy stood up, tired of the googly eyed short kid. She left the room and saw Cody programming on his mini laptop again, probably preparing for the next planet. She sat on the couch next to him, trying to look at his screen but he just moved it away. Rini came in the room a little while later and sat next to Kristen, staring at the wall. I bet he is thinking about me. Kristy thought, because he wasn't staring at her, instead he was just staring out at the wall as if he were in his own world.
"So where are we going next?" Kristy asked, still trying to at least have a peek at the screen.
"I was thinking since this adventure just happened to be successful, I thought lets try a planet that I haven't been before."
Kristy seemed to agree on it. She had tried her very first planet and she had already had an amazing adventure put into her hands. Even though the Ganganguan nearly killed her friends(Friend), she seemed to enjoy to have a super action adventure. This was her thing, though she only got to watch what Cody did to the creature, she was hoping in the future, she will get her chance to do it. She wanted to come for this, so she is hoping to get it and to get it good. And while she sat down with Cody, as she was finishing her first adventure, waiting for the next one to come, she knew this was going to be something to remember once her adventure is over.
Chapter 4- Deep roots and high winds
Kristen definitely felt the impact hit her as she landed on another planet. She tried not to let herself fall into a collapse as she and Cody had traveled to the other side of the Titan Galaxy. Though they really didn't land, it was more like they were flying. Kristen tried to put her feet on the ground but there seemed to be so much wind that she was literally blowing away. Ahead of her Cody had grabbed on a trunk of a sturdy tree and his fingers were beginning to slip. Kristy grabbed Cody's hand and they came blowing in the ferocious winds, not sure what else to do. Then they both grabbed hold of a vine that was connected to a large tree. The tree had a good size hole inside it, just enough for Cody and Kristen to fit inside. They helped each other pull closer and closer to the tree, though the vine was very long and they had grabbed the end of it.
They were only about half way across the vine until the wind suddenly stopped all at once. They both came crashing down on the hard ground, Cody falling right on top of Kristen. Cody got off of her and helped her up, there was no wind, not even a slight breeze any more. They ran over to the hole in the tree and got inside, expecting the wind to come back. A few minutes later and the wind returned, starting as fast as it ended. You could hear whistling as the wind went through little holes of the old trunk they were settled in.
"WHY IS IT SO WINDY!!!!!!!!!!!" Kristen yelled through the wind.
"I DON'T KNOW, I HAVEN'T FIGURED IT OUT YET!!!!!!!!" Cody responded, watching leaves fly around the tree.
"HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT ALL THE TREES ARE BARE?" He added.
Kristen nodded, starting to watch the leaves too. She also noticed that not a single tree was thin and wimpy, all of them were sturdy and very thick in the trunk. She also knew with how this wind is going so far, those trees probably have very deep roots too. She figured that those roots in each of the trees in the land probably go for miles on end, linking with other roots for deer life. The vine that they had grabbed unto had now snapped and was flying away, not to be seen again. The entire land round about was just a land with very hard ground, and naked trees scattered across it. She could see why the ground was so hard, if it was grass the grass would get ripped out, if it was loose dirt the whole area would be in a dust cloud, or even just gravel, with how vicious the wind is,the rocks would even blow away.
The wind then stopped once again. Kristen turned to Cody, but Cody seemed to be counted behind his breath for some reason. A few minutes later the wind started once again and Cody started counting a little louder. When he got to exactly four minutes and thirty seconds then the wind stopped. He continued the process of counting the wind when it stopped and when it began about four times until he turned to Kristy.
"We need to know where the wind is coming from because it is not natural. I did some calculating and it takes approximately four minutes, and thirty four seconds when the wind is going and three minutes when the wind is stopped."
"So what is your plan?" She asked.
"I will count to 150, then we will have about thirty seconds to find a spot to hide. Then as soon as the wind stops again then we will start running as fast as we can to our next check point. So lets stay close to the trees okay?" He said.
Kristy nodded in agreement. She knew this was probably going to be the best thing they can do to find where this wind was coming from. Cody then nodded as the wind stopped, they rushed out of the hole and started going west. As they ran across the hard ground, they noticed the leaves were littered across the ground, they weren't green anymore. They ran until Cody called out the 150 seconds and they rushed to a wide tree. The wind went around them, you could see the streaks from how much power the wind was making. Cody counted to the four minutes and thirty seconds, then they darted ahead.
"The good thing is, this planet is even smaller than our moon, or even Pluto. When I observed it from afar it looked like the size of at least the county we live in. So that means wherever the wind is coming from it won't be too far ahead of us, it will be like jogging the five K a couple of times. " Cody said as they started heading towards another monstrous tree.
The wind started again, this time even more ferocious than the last. After the few minutes they ran through until the next wind. Then they realized what lied ahead of them, there were no trees for as far as they could see, it was as if the trees were swiped away from there spot. Though there was no mark of where a tree used to be.
They started to run right after the wind stopped, running as fast as there legs could carry hoping to find another tree to hide. Cody counted, trying to stay calm with how much time they had left and how there was not a single thing in the area to hide. Kristy was even running faster than him. He then got the thought that he wasn't going to make it.
There was thirty seconds left and no tree was in sight quite yet. Cody clenched his fists, not wanting to warn Kristen about the little time they had left. Then the time hit and then the wind started again, suddenly something grabbed his foot. Kristy was laying on her stomach, her fingers digging in the ground. He tried to get on his belly but the wind stopped him. Kristy clenched her teeth, squeezing Cody's hand so tight that he was afraid he will lose his circulation. He didn't count, he was more concentrated on keeping hold of Kristen's struggling hand. He could see her fingers moving, trying to dig deeper into the ground with her nails. The wind was even worse than the time before. It was as if the wind kept on slightly increasing every time.
Kristy was still digging deeper, you could feel her hands getting clammy. Cody felt his own hand slipping from her sweaty hand, making it hard to hold on. He was only holding Kristen's hand by the fingertips. They had curled there fingers together, there fingers slipping by the second. Then Cody felt himself blow away, being pulled further and further from Kristy. Kristy screamed, her hand trying to reach for him again, he reached his hand but they were too far away from each other.
"CODY!!!!!!!!!!" She cried, as he blew further and further away.
He got so far away, she could only see the tiny figure of him. Then he disappeared as if he got swallowed up by the wind itself. The wind stopped and Kristy was alone in the quiet, still, empty land, and all she could do was cry.
She didn't want to continue, though she wanted to reach the goal Cody wanted to reach. She knew he couldn't any more, it was either he was dead, or too far away from her. She wasn't sure what to do, it was now too late to start running, the wind was going to start again. She dug her fingers and little more into the hard ground, her nails beginning to snap. The wind started again and she stayed firm against the ground, trying to stay still. Then it stopped and she decided the best choice is to find where the wind was coming from. She ran and ran as fast as she could, not wanting to end up on the ground again.
Then she found a tree and sat down, the wind going around her. She took a deep breath, trying not to let tears come back to her again. The wind stopped and she continued the process of hiding then going over and over, but still there was no sign of where the wind had started. After about three hours of the continued process, Kristy gave in and leaned against a large tree. She closed her eyes, her face heavy with sweat. The sun was keeping the planet warm and the wind was more like a hot wind then a freezing cold wind. She wanted to just go home and get into a nice cold shower.
She didn't want to run any more. She felt very worn out, then she realized that Cody had woken her up in the middle of the night. After thinking about how little sleep she had last night, she felt even more tired. She knew the sky would have gone dark by now, but it was still as bright as it was four hours ago. She was starting to go cross eyed and then fell asleep against the big tree.
Kristy had a dream of being home. At first she was glad she was home, then got thinking of how much fun she had with Cody. She had only visited two planets and knew there was more to see. She wasn't sure how she ended up back home, but she could smell her home, see her home, and even see her home. It was so real and she never got the thought that this was only just a dream. She then noticed Cody, he seemed as happy as a little toddler.
"Hey Kristen," He said, waving to her.
"Why am I back home?" She asked Cody.
"I needed to bring you back, I knew it seemed too unsafe to go any further." Cody said.
Kristen backed away. She knew Cody enough to know that this was not him. She was starting to realize how unreal her dream really was. Though Cody was a good boy and would protect her at any cause, he would not just send her home. He would probably take her to another planet, or find a protected spot within the planet itself.
"This is all fake, this is only a dream." Kristy said to herself.
Cody suddenly disappeared and then her house started fading, then her yard. Everything disapeared and she woke up. She was hoping Cody was by her side. She heard something breathing, she looked around but it was only the wind picking up once again.
Cody woke up in a startle. He felt dizzy and his head throbbed, he sat up and his back was piercing with pain. He looked around him and noticed a large tree. He crawled over to it and wrapped his arms around it, too weak to move any more. Just at that moment the wind picked up and he felt his feet flying outward, popping his back. His back felt somewhat better now that it was popped, he then realized his back was just out. The wind continued then his feet settled back on the ground once the wind stopped. He leaned against the tree, looking around for a good object.
He then found a green leaf on the ground, he leaned over and tried to grab it. Then the wind picked up and the leaf blew away. Cody snapped as he watched the green leaf fly away, all the other leaves were crunchy and brown, useless for connecting it. He waited for the wind to stop and got out from his hiding spot, there was no other green leaf on the ground. He leaned back against the tree and sighed, he wasn't going to be able to leave this planet. He couldn't find anything solid and capable to connect his tele drive with, and he had lost Kristen.
He scooted down the tree until he was laying down on the ground. He stared up at the bare branches of the tree and sat up. The tree had a green leaf, holding on for dear life on a thick branch. The wind had stopped, so he stood up and tried reaching the green leaf. The leaf was too far up, he looked for a branch to grab on and started to climb. He was nearly to the leaf until the wind started again, he snatched the leaf right before it blew away from the tree. He smiled and clenched his fist around it, he had his way out. He held tight around the thick branches of the tree, waiting for the wind to settle down. Then it stopped and he hopped off the tree, he leaned against it's trunk again and started his programming. He then folded up his laptop, wrapped the leaf around the drive and placed it on his lap.
The leaf glowed, then settle down. Cody didn't hesitate to wait, he grabbed it and disapeared. He appeared in a tree with thick leaves scattered across its branches. He looked down and noticed a girl sitting against it. He waited for the wind to settle, then hopped off. He sat next to her, it seemed like she didn't notice him. Kristy turned her head and nearly jumped for joy, she felt his clothes and hands and smiled even wider.
"Is it really you?" She asked.
Cody nodded. He stood up and grabbed a leaf off the branch and sat back down.
"So I am guessing you want to get out of here." He said, popping up his laptop.
"Well, before we leave I have something to tell you." She said.
"Ok." He agreed, hoping it was a good thing.
"I figured out how this wind came. It is coming from the planet itself, the planet is moving so fast it picks up wind, then it stops every few minutes. I knew if this planet started out rotating fast, then there wouldn't be leaves flying everywhere. That is because the leaves would have to grow somehow, so this planet had only started rotating faster not very long ago. I really don't know how it happened, but I do know one thing and that is that this wind is natural and it came from the planet itself ." She explained.
Cody nodded.
"So these leaves have just traveled around this planet, with no place to go?" Cody asked.
"Yes, so do you think we should figure out how it all happened or should we just leave it for somebody older and more skilled to figure it out?" Kristen wondered.
Cody put his finger on his chin and looked up, thinking of what they should do.
"Well, we are but only in the seventh-eighth grade level, we both weren't nerds at birth and still are not, and we both don't even know how the earth rotates yet." Cody listed down.
"So its a no?" She asked.
"Yep, this kind of science will probably be too complicated for us to try at this age." Cody said.
So they knew they couldn't do anything about it, and all they could do was to leave the planet for good. The wind started once again, the wind seemed the windiest they had ever seen it.
"So, we need to choose a galaxy within this galaxy because it seems like it needs more exploring. So where do you want to go?" Cody asked, popping up his laptop once again.
Cody handed her a map that said on the top Triton Galaxy. She looked at one of the solar systems and randomly chose a planet furthest away from the tiny sun.
"That is Pigeria," He pointed out.
Kristy agreed on going to Pigeria and Cody started his programming. The wind started and Cody felt his laptop being blown away, he quickly snatched it before it went any further. Then he turned it back into the tele drive. He wrapped the leaf around it like he did with getting to Kristen and placed it between them (just so it won't blow away). After the glowing settled, he waited for the wind to settle, then counted softly to three. They both grabbed the leaf covered drive and disapeared from the planet.
Chapter 5- Pigeria
Cody and Kristen fell from the sky, landing on a land of black. A large dust cloud surrounded them, making it difficult to breathe. Cody let a little bit of the black dust fall in his hand as it settled. He rubbed it together between his fingers and observed it closely. He then tossed it on the ground and looked around him, the whole planet seemed to look like it was covered in black.
"what is this stuff?" Kristy asked.
"Ash." He said, staring at the black valley.
Kristen didn't respond. The whole valley was covered in ash from as far as she could see, there were no trees or anything, just ash. She stood up and scooped up a handful of ash, she felt it and sighed. She didn't like the fact that the whole planet was covered in ash, and how it became this way.
"Ash? Why is this planet covered in ash?" She asked.
"Its not a planet," Cody responded, still staring out into the dark valley, "It's a star."
"A star?"
"It's a burnt out star, it had burnt out many years ago and all is left of it is ashes." Cody said, now turning to her.
"Now how do you know all this?" She asked.
"Simple, isn't it obvious that it all happened because the star burnt out? I mean where else do you think this could happen?" He said a bit harshly.
Kristen was speechless. The answer was obvious, and she knew it was now that she asked. She looked around her and felt bad for the star, the poor thing isn't glowing anymore like its sisters. She started walking more into the valley, she could hear the soft crunching and little ashes flying everywhere. Cody followed, wondering why she was walking into a boring land of ashes. Maybe she was just curious about if there was anything else, he wasn't sure. So he followed, though she didn't stop to check if he was there behind her.
After a few minutes of walking, Kristen starting running. It was as if she spotted something, though as he followed her he saw something too. It was a glowing object glimmering in the dark. It was most peculiar, because there was no light to make it glimmer. Kristy came over to it and picked it up, it was a flashlight. She reached into her bag and pulled out her own flashlight, they looked exactly the same. She showed the two flashlights to Cody.
"Where did this flashlight come from I wonder, because it looks like there is no life here?" Cody wondered, observing the identical flashlights.
Kristy shrugged her shoulders. Cody put the flashlight into his pocket and Kristy put her own in her bag. There was also something else that they noticed in the area, there were Geyser appearing here and there around the valley. Some seemed inactive and only a couple were active but were going out. They walked up to an inactive geyser and looked down into the darkness.
Kristen wanted to go down into the empty hole. She wanted to just bring her arms out and and let herself fly into the empty Geyser. Cody stayed back, not wanting to fall into it. Kristy then swung her arms out and stood on the edge of the dark hole. Cody rushed over and grabbed her waist, not wanting her to fall in. She put her arms down and turned to Cody.
"Do you want to come with me?" She asked.
"We can't Kristy, we don't know how deep it is." Cody mentioned.
But Kristy seemed to no pay attention to his precaution. She smiled, as if he accepted and grabbed his hand. She stood against the edge again and peered over.
"Kristy, something is bringing you into this. You are being tricked into killing yourself!" Cody told her.
"No, I know what I am doing. It is just I have this strong impression to see what is inside." She said, sounding more serious, "Just trust me."
Cody didn't like this, whatever tricks this star was doing her didn't like how it was turning out.
"No Kristy, we can't go in there." Cody said firmly.
But before he could do anything else, Kristen snatched his hand and jumped in. Cody quickly held unto the rim of the Geyser. He didn't want to fall into it, and so far it seemed way too deep. He looked down and Kristy looked sad that he didn't let go.
"Come on Cody, trust me on this." She yelled.
Cody looked up at the black sky, then down into the dark hole underneath. He couldn't have any chance now to wheel him and Kristen back up to the surface, but he also didn't want to let go and let himself fall and die, and he also didn't want to be dangling off of a geyser hole with nowhere to go. He looked down at Kristy's pleading face and then once again up at the star covered sky. He closed his eyes, hoping that as soon as he opens them he will be back on land instead of dead. He released his fingers, feeling his stomach drop as he was falling down into the deep hole. He could still feel his hand clutching on Kristen's hand, he kept his eyes closed not wanting to expect the bottom.
The he felt solid ground on his feet, Kristy was still holding his hand but she was beside him. Maybe he was in heaven, maybe he died so quickly he doesn't remember hitting the bottom. He opened his eyes to find he was in a bright valley. The valley had geysers shooting smoke high, and long green grass underneath his feet. He saw living creatures walking around, grazing the grass. It felt very hot in the land he was in, it felt almost too hot to bear. He looked beside him and Kristen was looking as amazed at the view.
"What is this place?" She asked.
Cody looked further into the valley, it looked oddly familiar. It then clicked, he knew where he was.
"It's Pigeria, we are on Pigeria." Cody said, his face brightening up underneath the black soot.
"But how?" She asked.
"I think it got restored or something." Cody said, now unsure how the star appeared like this.
Cody ran over to a deer.
"Excuse me, how long have you been here?" Cody asked the deer.
"Um, well most of my life." The deer responded, it happened to be a female.
Kristy stood in shock at the deer that just talked.
"Has there been any fires around lately?" Cody asked.
The deer shook her head and looked around.
"You two are covered in soot, come to my house and I'll clean you up." The deer said, changing the subject.
Kristen and Cody didn't complain as the deer led them down the valley into a house made of sticks. They entered the comfy home to find everything made of grass and wood. the deer offered them a seat and they sat down on the grass seats. The deer started chopping some odd fruits and pacing them on a plate made of twigs. She handed each of them the odd plate with the odd fruits and bowed.
"You seem hungry too, sorry, this is all I have for supper."
They thanked the deer and the deer left the home. A few minutes later she came back in with a bucket full of water. She placed the bucket down and grabbed a green wash cloth (probably made of grass) and dipped it in the bucket. They both had finished there dinner and placed the plate by there side as the doe returned with a soaked cloth. The doe started wiping the soot off Kristy's face and then you started to see her bright face underneath. Cody didn't want the doe to wash his face, he offered to do it himself and cleaned off his face and arms.
"Much better, now why were you wondering about the fires around here?" She asked, as she sat down across from them.
Cody wasn't sure what to say, he turned to Kristen and she shrugged her shoulders. He looked back over at the doe.
"Um, please excuse me, but me and my friend have to talk real fast." Cody said, getting off the seat.
The deer nodded, not minding at all. They left the wood home and stood outside of it.
"I don't think this planet is restored." Cody said.
"Why?"
"Because, I think we are looking into the past of this star. It was like we fell into a time portal or something, the deer has never left the planet, nor seen it into ashes." Cody said in a harsh whisper.
"But that would mean that this star would be burning out soon. And that would mean that the deer would die and everything else within the planet, what are we going to do?" Kristy asked, her face filling with worry.
"I don't know. We can't evacuate the people because there isn't something to evacuate with. And we can't let them stay here or we will be watching them die with the planet."
they discussed this for quite a while until they found a plan that they hoped would work. They reentered the home of the doe and sat back down. The doe smiled and put her hooves together. Kristy and Cody told the doe about how they came from the future. They told her how the star she was living on was going to be destroyed and how it was just going to end up in ashes. They told her the plan and how it will hopefully work.
"How many living creatures are on this planet?" Cody asked her.
"Not much, we all live in this area." She said.
The deer and walked out of her home and they followed. There was a couple creatures still grazing the grass and the doe called them over. She also ran over to some of the homes and out came more of her own kind. There was but only about a half a dozen creatures brought up to them.
"Is this all there is?" Cody asked.
The doe nodded. Cody sighed and told them the plan also, not explaining it as much as he had explained it to the doe. Kristy would say things here and there and the creatures would nod, trying not to show worry in there faces. After the explanation the people went to there homes, alarmed of the situation that was to come to pass.
"Come stay at my home for a while children, you can stay until time comes." The deer said, going back into her home.
The doe set up grass mats on the floor and the deer went into her room. Outside hadn't gotten dark, though everybody was going to sleep. They weren't sure how they could predict if it was day or night, there was no sun. The planet was the light of the day. For a while they both couldn't sleep, then almost at the same time they both were able to sleep in the brightly lit home.
For days on end, they helped the other creatures pack and prepare. Though they weren't sure how close or far the evacuation will appear they did notice a slight notice of it coming closer. The days seemed hotter, as if the star was starting to burn up. Most of the time Cody and Kristen would be fanning each other trying to get as cool as they can get. The heat was unbearable and it seemed too much for them both to stay for very long. Kristy felt near to heat stroke and dehydration and Cody was at her tail.
The other creatures didn't seem to notice, it was as if they were born to be in this hot of weather. They worked has hard as the two teenagers would do on a spring morning. As day by day passed by the animals even started to find the weather too hot to stay within. Kristen seemed too weak to even get out of does house, and most of the time she was puking and coughing. Cody was near to that, and tried his best to stay alert and help the creatures.
Then the day came when the plan was going to start. Cody leaned against the wood house, his clothes drenched in sweat, doe was sitting next to him her face pale as his was. He couldn't stay alert any longer, he wanted to just close his eyes and die of heat stroke. Suddenly a great ball of fire hit the middle of the valley, catching the long grass on fire. Cody sighed of relief that it had finally started, but also sad that he would have to get up and get moving. He then saw another ball of fire hit the valley and he got up by pulling himself up with the sticks. The creatures started coming out of there homes, dragging there bags with them. None of them had energy and all of them seemed sick. Cody went inside Does house and scooped Kristen in his arms.
The geyser of which they had fallen into from the future was just in the middle of all the houses. Some creatures had already started jumping into the portal gazer. Soon all the creatures had jumped into the gazer including Doe. Cody stumbled out of the house, trying to reach the geyser. Fire balls starting hitting homes and catching them on fire, the portal seemed to far away for the struggling Cody. Kristy seemed heavier than he though and it made it more hard to walk. He stumbled as he tried to run but failed. A fire ball had hit Does home behind him, he couldn't get to the portal fast enough. The portal still seemed too far away, even though he was only about ten feet away. Kristy started mumbling words that Cody couldn't understand, though he was really hoping she was saying something useful.
He was now walking on his knees, his hands struggling more and more on Kristy. The portal still seemed too far. Another fire ball hit the ground behind him, though it was small it was coming towards him quickly. Smoke was filling the air, making it hard to know where the portal was. He kept walking on his knees, his eyes being blinded by smoke. Then he gave in, his eyes rolling back. He laid on the ground, knowing he will die with Kristen, he then felt something. It was a hole.
Cody felt like he could jump for joy, he grabbed the edge of the geyser and inched forward. He pushed Kristy into the portal then slid up to the edge. He then fell into it, not caring about the dropping of his stomach. He loved feeling the cool air hit his face as he came further and further down the hole. He was hoping Kristy had made it, and he was hoping he himself would make it back to the future. He kept his eyes closed, feeling the cool air rush through his fingers. Then he felt solid ground, for a while he only just smoothed the ash in his hands, keeping his eyes closed.
Then he opened them and he was back in the future of the burnt out star. He still felt weak, but he was able to lift his head. The half a dozen creatures were laying on the ground, helpless. Cody then knew that these creatures can't really live here any more, there was no food, no medications, and no water. They won't be able to live in a star full of ashes. Cody reached into his pocket to grab his drive but the flashlight was still there. He pulled it out and placed it on the ground in front of him, then pulled out his blue drive.
He tried to press the button to pop up his laptop but his fingers were too clumsy, he hit his head against it and the laptop popped up. He tried to type but he felt too weak to even move his fingers. So he started pecking at the keys, being very slow at the programming. He didn't care where he was to go, maybe he would go back to Cretampu and let the creatures stay there. The people there would not mind, and plus they have natural herbs and medicines to help situations like this. Cody slowly starting programming it to Cratampu and pulled out an odd fruit he had snatched in the past. He stuck the drive in the maroon fruit and placed it in the ashes.
"I h-have a n-new place for a-all of you. This p-planet is safe and the-the people there will protect you. O-once this is done, I-I will tell y-you when to touch it and w-we will all b-be saved f-from this d-dead star." Cody stuttered, struggling to speak.
The creatures scooted closer to the drive. Cody spotted Kristen close by from where he was and grabbed her cold hand. The fruit glowed for only a few minutes until it died down.
"O-one, t-two-" then as he said three everybody including himself touched the fruit. Everything transformed as they traveled to Cratampu. They all landed, too weak to even move from where they all were, but they also knew that help was on there way.
Chapter 6- The Endless Pit
So far there last few adventures has been intense and unusual, though it made Kristen's life more exciting as she came along for a thrilling adventure. The last adventure though wasn't quite as exciting as they expected, as they went through heat strokes and heat sickness's with all the other creatures, ,making life miserable. There plan was to technically wait until the right time until you really need to leave for good, but there task seemed harder than they expected. Though Cretampu, Kristen's first planet ever visited, had a lot of natural medicines that were even stronger than our own unnatural medicines and can technically heal nearly any sickness. So as they were all lying on the grass of the meadow, helpless, the people began to see what was going on outside there homes.
After a couple days of back on Cretampu, they both recovered nicely. Of course neither of them wanted to go back home, even through there miserable experience. Cody sat on top of the hill with Kristen, just looking at the beautiful meadow once again. Cody didn't want to be on Cretampu for much longer, he wanted to get going. He had already found a good planet that he wanted to check out on the outskirts of Triton Galaxy. Though it wasn't much of a planet compared of the picture on the map, it looked more like a long space ship with the length that reached for millions of miles up and down.
He folded up the map and placed it back in his pocket. He looked around him and found a hollow brick of wood. He placed it beside him and popped up his laptop once again, he really didn't understand why Kristen kept on looking over at his screen. He liked his privacy as he programmed, especially since he was still trying to gain her trust. Though he trusted her enough to come along with him, he wasn't sure if he was 100 % trustworthy to her or not quite yet. It didn't take long until he finished and stuffed the drive in the hollow of the log. He placed it between Kristen and himself and watched it glow. Cody watched it until it narrowed down back into its normal self. They both grabbed unto the log and they went through a blast of streaks once again.
But as they got closer and closer to the ship/planet, they felt themselves being pulled away. The log was slipping and then it was lost, with Cody's drive. They watched it disappear into the streaks, then before even grabbing hands they were being pulled away from each other. It wasn't the teleporting portal itself that was making them being pulled away, it had came from the ship itself. Without the drive now in neither of there hands, and without them even keeping together, they both landed the wrong way on the planet ship.
Kristy woke up, startled from the frightening ride she just had. She was in her bedroom, in fact she was tucked under her blankets. She pulled the covers and sat up in her bed, her light was off and not a sound was outside her door. So it was all just a dream, now how is that? She asked herself. She didn't understand, how could she dream in her dreams, get attacked in her dreams and feel it, and get a deadly sickness that was so real. Maybe she was dreaming in her house again, but she could feel her bed, and she could smell the smell of her house, and she could even hurt herself.
This was unreal. She sighed, unsure what to believe of what was going on. She hopped off her bed and came over to the door and swung it open. She was about to take a step until she realized there was nowhere to step. She grabbed unto the door, screaming in fright. Instead of a narrow hallway in the basement, she was looking at something completely different. It was a large, silvery blue, octagonal room. There was no ceiling, no floor, it just ended up a giant hole up and down. On each of the eight wall was rows and rows of doorways, all lined up with each other. They all looked like the normal white, wooden doorways you open a door into your bedroom, it was a giant room full of doors. She grabbed into the sill of her doorway and peeked further over the vastly room.
"CODY!!!!" She screamed, hoping he would hear her over all the doorways. She heard a squeak as if someone was opening there door, making it echo throughout the room. It had come from across from her, it was defiantly Cody. He smiled, but you could also see he was also sad.
"Cody, where are we, what is going on?" She asked, her voice shaking as she yelled across the room.
"We are in the ship or planet, they are listening to us so we can't talk too much!" He shouted.
"They're watching us?" She said.
Cody nodded and looked around him. There was a light next to each door for as far as she could see, and on the lights were tiny black things. Kristen then realized those tiny black things were cameras. She looked at her own to realize the camera showed up inside her room too.
"Open your door in 5 minutes okay." He said, and before Kristen said anything else he shut the door.
Kristen shut her door and noticed her alarm clock was working. She watched the alarm clock, waiting for those five minutes Cody told her to do. Then after it his 2:40 she opened the door. Cody opened the door a few seconds later, he was holding something in his hand. It just so happened to be a complex paper airplane, it wasn't just the simple airplane you fly around in classrooms.
"Heads up!" She shouted.
Cody threw the plane so it would fly across the room. The airplane started flying closer and closer to her until she knew the plane would probably fail to reach her room. She grabbed the door and was able to catch the plane, the door suddenly slammed shut. Kristen screamed, she was dangling from her door, holding tightly to the turning knob. She was crinkling the airplane in her hand as she grasped against the doorknob. She felt her hand slip and she released the door knob.
Suddenly, she was standing in her kitchen. It was as if nothing had happened, she just turned up in her kitchen. She saw an unusual doorway that she came out of, but instead it was just the tunnel. She was still holding the paper airplane clenched into her hands. She walked over to the table and sat at one of the chairs. She looked around her to find the tiny camera out of view from where she was sitting. She silently unwrinkled the airplane, why did Cody send her an airplane. She then saw writing on it, she smiled and unfolded the entire thing. He wanted to send her a letter, she started to read:
Okay, this is not an official letter to give to you. I just can't talk to you in person, so I decided to write it down. Though I have never been to this planet/ship before or anything of this sort, I was able to figure it out. Well I didn't figure it out on my own, I got talking to a friend that used to be my next door neighbor. He had gotten missing a couple of weeks before my father had died, and it was a case nobody solved. So now I have just figured it out, he was sent away. He told me loads of information.
Now, the reason why you are in your own bedroom is simple. This "Thing" is connected with earth, what you see is every single room of every single building and house and school in the world.
Kristy opened the door and peered over the vastly room. So all those rooms go to a room within earth, this seemed very interesting. She read on:
It is used with the cause of pure magic. Of course it is make belief in our world, but this "Thing" does have the power of magic, just not a lot of it. So as they built this "Thing" they needed some people living within it, and so they just randomly chose someone off of Earth. Now my friend became one of millions who had gotten missing, and he has helped me by a lot to figure this out. So as for us, we technically volunteered to come here, and sadly, we can't leave. They took my tele drive away and I myself don't know what to do. But I do know that we will figure out something here, we just won't be that good on communication though.
I also found out that you can go to other rooms, as long as it is a "Need", so that may be a bit difficult. So that would mean they probably won't let us see each other, because they think it is just a "Want". I don't know exactly how they did it, but all I know is by magic. So that is all I know from my good buddy, your gonna have to figure it all out on your own, sorry about that, but just stay cool.
Cody (:
Kristy sighed, what was she going to do. She then wondered how she ended up in the kitchen, how was it a need to be in her own kitchen. She then realized how hungry she was, she hadn't eaten since that morning. She looked around her and made herself a sandwich. She sat at the table, unsure if this was actually real food or not. She took a bite and found her answer. After finishing with her late lunch, she walked over to the door to the tunnel.
She opened the door and peered over into what looked like an endless pit. She crossed her fingers, hoping she wouldn't end up falling into that pit. She closed her eyes and took a step into the open space. She felt solid ground come underneath her and she opened her eyes, she was back in her room. Behind her where she had entered in was now the tunnel once again instead of the kitchen. She sat on her bed and pulled off her shoes, trying to make herself comfortable in the non- comforting area.
She then spotted her earphones and her iPod. She put the earphones on and started listening to some music, hoping the music would help her think. As she laid down on her bed she got thinking of the "Need" to get to Cody. She pulled out her earphones and came up to the door. She stood at it, looking over at the pit once again.
"Okay I Need to see Cody." She said to herself.
She then took a step and she ended up in a classroom. It was her Science class, she stood there sad that she didn't go to Cody. Her teacher, Mr. Strauss (who had gone missing when second semester had started) was writing on the whiteboard. The classroom was full of unfamiliar students from what seemed from different areas of the world, they all were about her age. Mr. Strauss put down his marker and turned around, he looked over at Kristen with a confused expression on his face.
"You over there, are you here for class?" He asked,
Kristy shrugged her shoulders, then nodded. Mr. Strauss nodded.
"Then have a seat then, your late." He said.
Kristen nodded and sat down, she spotted the young Mr. Strauss winking at her. He pulled up his square glasses and continued writing on the board about things to write notes about. Then he turned around once again and clapped his hands together.
"All right, class dismissed." he said.
Everybody including Kristen started to leave until Mr. Strauss stopped her.
"Come see me in my office young lady." He said, trying to add the mean tone in his voice.
Mr. Strauss's little office seemed somehow connected to the classroom, so they didn't split his office. They walked into his office just like they would a normal office at a school on earth. Mr. Strauss offered Kristen a seat and closed the door. He sat down at the desk and weaved his fingers together, he looked up at the camera and nodded. Kristen looked up to see the flashing green light of the camera turning off. As soon as the camera turned off Mr. Strauss went back to normal.
"Kristen, what are you doing here?" He asked.
"I came here by accident, I don't know why I'm here." She said, shrugging her shoulders.
"How? This ship is many galaxies away. You couldn't have unless... you-" He stopped.
" I came here by teleportation, they didn't steal me away. I have been traveling to planets and stars for days now, I know it sounds untrue but-" Mr. Strauss then interrupted.
"No, I believe you. If you can get kidnapped and get stranded in a ship many galaxies away, I bet you can also find a way to teleport yourself to different places. But you shouldn't be here Kristen, this place is a nightmare." He said calmly.
"I can't leave, me and my friend are stuck here until we find a way out. They think we just volunteered, so they won't let us leave especially without our transportation. Now, how did it all happen of how you got here?" She asked, changing the subject slightly.
"Well," Mr. Strauss leaned back in his chair and put his feet up on the table, "I was at home making dinner for my wife before she came home. Then as I was setting the table, making it all nice and beautiful it started to feel odd within the room. I wrote a nice letter and placed it on her plate, hoping our date would be a nice one. I sat down with my wife and we started talking, enjoying our time. It was wonderful until I started to feel ill, my wife tried to comfort me and it stopped the date. I started to feel tingles and I felt weak and miserable, then suddenly I was starting to disappear. I thought I was dissolving as I saw myself turn into tiny particles, it was coming up my legs, my wife was screaming with fright. Then I felt it come to my face and I didn't see my wife's frightened face again after that. I woke up in my bedroom and I was glad it was just all a dream, until I realized it wasn't"
"My wife wasn't sleeping beside me like I always saw in the morning. I was alone in my bedroom. Then I opened my bedroom door and noticed the pit, going so far down you couldn't see the bottom. I looked up to seeing just the same. Now I am here, alone, without my wife, without my students, and without a life." Mr. Strauss had pulled his feet off the desk. He leaned forward, his showing sorrow and fear.
"I want to go home Kristen. You seem the only person around here that I now personally, you were one of my favorite students. I have known you enough to find that you can figure out anything, especially with that friend of yours. Please, if you find a way out, may I come along. I want to see my wife, and all my students." He said, his eyes dull instead of the cheerful sparkle he always had when he was a teacher at her school.
"Mr. Strauss, I will do anything to get you home." She said,
. . .
Cody sat on his blue bed, writing constant notes. He always kept the paper facing towards the cameras blind spot so they won't spot what he was up to. He wasn't sure what to do, he had written ideas and all of them useless. His garbage can was now overflowing with crumpled up notes he didn't care about any more. He was glad he had empty notebooks in his bedroom on earth, because they were all here already. He grumbled and laid on his bed, he couldn't think of any idea whatsoever.
It was a scary moment when he saw Kristen try to catch his airplane he worked most of the five minutes he told her. He knew the airplane wouldn't make it as it got closer, and then seeing Kristen catch it. He watched as she dangled on her doorknob, unsure what to do. Then she slipped and disappeared, he knew she had gone to another room. That was what they always did when an accident happens. He then saw the door open and Kristen appeared at her doorway, her body shaken. He spotted the paper, now folded up, tucked in her pocket. He then knew she had read it.
He kept the door a crack open, hoping to find what she was up to. He then saw her standing at the open doorway once again. She was trying to saw that she needed to see Cody, Cody knew that she wouldn't be able to. Suddenly she took a step and disappeared just like what he saw earlier. He wasn't sure where she had gone, but he knew there was probably going to be at least something useful there. He kept the door open ,and started writing more notes.
Suddenly, Cory heard a loud, ear piercing scream echo in the pit. He peeked over and across from him, a few doors underneath Kristy's door he saw a girl at her bedroom doorway. She was grabbing unto the rims of the doorway, the doorway was shaking. Suddenly, the doorway started moving into the wall. It was moving further and further into the wall until there was an empty hole of where her bedroom used to be. Next door to him, Christopher, was watching in horror as well as they saw the black hole in the wall.
" What was that?" Cody asked.
"That girl had done something that they didn't like." Chrisopher said, still staring at the hole.
"What happened to her?" He asked.
"Nobody knows exactly, but most think they kill them. Some even think that room gets shot out into space and the person ends up dying from no oxygen. I really truly don't know" He said.
Cody didn't say anything else, it was a horror show that he just saw. And it was a case unsolved, and it creeped him out even more. He couldn't do anything about it, he just was hoping it wouldn't happen with either him, Kristen, or his good buddy Christopher. He closed the door, now wanting to see any more than what he saw.
He wasn't sure what to do after that, he couldn't think of any ideas. All he was thinking of was what had happened to the room close by. He didn't want to end up like how she ended up, he wasn't sure what to do. He knew if he tried to escape then he would probably end up going into the wall. He leaned against his bed, not sure whether he really should find a way to escape. He needed to act, but how, how could he act without having a consequence to go with? What if he had a plan but the plan ended up going wrong and then it goes too far? He kept on getting worries and more worries until he didn't want to make any more plans any more.
A couple hours later and Cody decided it was time for bed. Though he didn't have any dinner, he wasn't really hungry. He laid in his bed, unsure of what to do. He stared up at the dark blue wall. Then he heard the door across the room open. He hopped out of bed and looked out the door to find Kristen standing in her doorway. She turned around and smiled at Cody. Her attitude seemed quite interesting, well at least to Cody. He had never seen her act this way before, it was like something had happened that she wasn't telling him.
"GOOD NIGHT CODY!!!!!!!!!!!" She hollered across the room, then she closed her door.
It was just how she said good night too. When she had shouted in the wind on that other planet, she never shouted that way. It was just how she said it, it was most peculiar. Cody wasn't sure what to say now, why was she acting this way, what were they doing to her? Cody closed the door and leaned against it, more and more questions coming and going in his mind. After a few minutes he laid back down on his bed, and finally fell asleep.
Cody woke up in the middle of the night. He wasn't sure why, he knew it wasn't because of his dream, and he knew that it wasn't because he heard a noise. It was more like he felt something that wasn't right. He got out of his bed and silently swung open his door. There were only but a few lights on in the pit, making it difficult to see. Suddenly, he started hearing clinking noises. It was as if something was falling, he tried to focus in the dark, looking for whatever was falling. He then realized a little glare, he could almost see the shape of a pair of glasses. He watched as the glasses clinking against the wall as it went further and further into the pit.
After watching it disappear into the dark abyss, he looked around trying to find who had dropped them. The only door that looked obvious enough to be the person who did it, was Kristen's. The door was only about a crack open, wide enough to just slip a pair of glasses through. It confused him, Kristen doesn't wear glasses. It was as if she did a prank, or maybe she wears contacts and she uses glasses just in case. Cody then saw the door open wider and he started to close his door so it is only a crack open. Kristy looked like she was pretending to find her glasses, as if she couldn't see. Cody made a short laugh under his breath, hoping she wouldn't hear.
She then took a step into the pit and disappeared Where did she go, and why in the middle of the night, what is she up to? The questions came back to him once again, filling up every second. Cody now could not go back to sleep, he laid in his bed, his eyes wide open, more alert than ever before in the middle of the night. The night went longer this way, he just laid there, unsure what to do or anything. Whatever this program that this ship had, it was starting to go a little too far. And nobody could do anything about it.
Chapter 7- the dark abyss
Kristy was so proud of herself when she left Mr. Strauss's classroom. She wanted to help him, she will do anything to help a teacher. She had a good time talking with him and they discussed about a lot of things, into and out of the subject. She then got a sudden and brilliant idea, she told it to Mr. Strauss and something surprised her by a lot.
"No Kristen, I can't do that. It is too risky, this is not accurate enough to act for it." He said, his tone serious.
Kristen didn't understand, why wasn't he agreeing to her wonderful plan. Of course it will be risky, but she was the dare devil around here. She turned to the door, if her science teacher is going to refuse her plan than she will do it herself. Of course she will come and fetch him and Cody before leaving, that was part of her plan and she agreed on it. Mr. Strauss led her out of the door and she went back into her bedroom. It was late now, she had her idea all planned out and she wanted to do it that very night. She set her alarm clock to 2 AM and went to sleep.
She was glad she was able to talk to someone she knew. She learned a lot from her science teacher and eventually it all evolved into a wonderful plan she cooked up. She knew that if something important falls out of the room by accident then you can go to the bottom floor to pick it up. Mr. Strauss had told her about how there is someone or something that was the leader of the ship. This person/thing lived was on the bottom floor, with millions of guards of some sort that each have a section assigned to watch on there cameras. She couldn't quite imagine what lied on the bottom of that pit, but either if its going to look pretty or not her plan would work, and she knew it.
The alarm clock woke her up and she hit the button. Kristen turned on her reading lamp and opened up her top drawer. She grabbed a pair of nerd glasses that she used a couple of times during school, just for the fun of it. She placed them by her bed, then switched off her lamp, and right at that moment the blinking light of the camera switched on. She was told how the cameras work at night. They would turn off the cameras at night, then they would know by the sensors that someone was awake.
Kristen pretended to just get out of bed, she grabbed her glasses and put them on. She started walking across her bedroom to her door (of which she kept open), and then tripped over something. She felt herself jerk forward her glasses getting knocked off her face. The glasses were balanced on the rim of the doorway. She reached for it, trying to grab her glasses, until they slipped and fell into the pit. She scooted forward and watched as they bounced off the walls as they fell.
She closed her door, trying to resist the smile she so longed for ever since she got there. She had purposely laid a doll in the middle of the floor to trip over. She got up and opened the door, she sighed, hoping her plan will work successfully. She took a step and she was suddenly in an office, with other open rooms close by that connected. She noticed a long and narrow hall and she bet herself that was the door out. She smiled, standing in an empty office.
A pale man came in, he seemed very angry. Before he sat down at the desk he stopped as he spotted Kristen standing at one of his doors. He snarled at her and sat down. He turned towards the wall, trying to ignore her.
"Sir I-" She tried to speak, but the man interrupted.
"No child, I don't know how you got here or when, and I am not interested." He snapped.
"Sir, I had lost my glasses in the pit and I cannot see. Where can I find them?" She asked, trying to stay calm.
The man turned around and glance over at Kristen. He put his hands on his desk and weaved them together.
"You're glasses are going to be broken, it is useless to have them. Now run along Child." He said, swatting his hand to say go away.
"But sir, my eye doctor will give me new ones if I exchange the broken ones." She lied, hopeful he would understand.
He stared up at her for a few moments. His eyes were pale and grey, and he had no hair, just a white scalp just like the rest of his body. It was like he had never seen the sun in his life, or he was from a different planet (or more like a different ship). The man sighed. He stood up and slapped his hands on his desk.
" All right, you want your glasses? I'll go get them." He said and stormed away.
The guards that had come inside with the pale man had followed him, and Kristen was alone. She looked over at the long hallway. She didn't want to waste time, she started towards the hallway. Hopeful that she would make it to the exit in time. She started down the hallway, not looking back to make sure he wasn't there. Though someone was following her that she didn't know about, and this person was pretty sneaky about it. Kristen never knew this person, though this person had wanted to escape as much as she had.
Kristen kept on running, trying to make as little sound as possible. Then she found the end of the dark hallway. It was double doors, and just above it was the glowing, green exit sign. She made a small squeal and grabbed the handle bars. Then just realizing that the doors were locked, and there was no key hole. She could have easily pick locked it if there was only a lock, the closest thing she could find as a lock was a small mechanism on the side of the door. It was too complicated for her intelligence and she just realized she really didn't have anywhere to escape.
She started to run back, as fast as her legs could carry back to that office. She stood at the doorway right when the man returned. He was holding a pile of glass and chunks of plastic. He slammed the remnants of her nerd glasses.
"There you have it child, your glasses, now can you go away now!" He rudely said.
The man thumped his thin body on the chair and started to rub his temple. Kristen stood there, surprised he didn't notice she had tried to escape.
"Please go child, I am sick and tired of you." He grumbled.
Kristen left the room and ended up back in her bedroom. She yawned, just realizing how much tired she was. She checked the alarm clock and it was 5 in the morning. She yawned again and tucked herself back into bed hoping to get at least some sleep that night. Though she still couldn't sleep, she was sad that her plan became a epic failure. She had forgotten the most important thing, the lock. Of course she can't get out when she doesn't know how to operator the lock, it was useless to escape now. She closed her eyes, and before she could think of anything else about her failures, she fell asleep.
A couple of hours had passed and Kristy was woken up. At first she didn't know what awoke her, her room was pitch black. Then she realized her room seemed to have a slight tremble. The trembling seemed to increase, it was like an earthquake, but how. She stumbled out of her bed and swung open her door. Her room was shaking so much she felt like she was going to fall out. She tried to take a step and hopefully end up in another room but she just felt air. Her room shook more and more every second, making it hard to stand.
"Help, somebody please! Something is happening!" She screamed.
She fell to her knees, grabbing on the rims of the doorway. She wasn't sure what was going on, was her room being smashed or falling apart. Tears started bursting out.
"PLEASE SOMEBODY!!!!!!!!!!!" She cried.
It was like her room was being pushed into the wall. She could feel it being pulled away from the pit. She spotted Cody's door swing open and he was staring in horror. He reached his hand over, though she knew he could never reach her.
"KRISTEN!" He cried.
Her room seemed to go faster and faster and she pulled away from the door. She could no longer see the silvery blue room, nor Cody's face anymore. The door slammed shut, the trembling was knocking off her pictures, making them fall and shatter. She held onto her bed, hoping it would be over soon, though she knew it wouldn't. She squeezed her eyes shut and curled up in a corner of her room, knowing she was going to die. It seemed like a horrifying roller coaster and the biggest earthquake in the world all at once. She felt sick and tired, unsure what to do.
Stuff was flying on the floor, then the dresser tipped over. All of her clothes in her closet were all getting torn down, a part of her ceiling broke off and fell in front of her. Kristen screamed, the disaster too much to bear. Everything seemed to be in a blur, everything seemed to come down as if in a movie. It seemed all unreal, she had never been in a real like experience like this. She kept her eyes closed tightly, keeping them closed until it would stop. Then she could hear a new sound ringing her ears, it was a screeching sound as if scratching on a chalkboard. She plugged her ears, the shrill noise perceiving her ears even covered by her hands.
New noises and feeling kept on adding on, making it too much. Her door kept on swinging open and closed, and she would see tiny glimpses of dark streaks. It didn't look as if she was teleporting, it just looked like she was moving in a racecar on a track. She tried thinking of good things like, like the wizard of Oz. Then of course it felt like she was being carried away in a scary tornado, though she knew she won't ever end up over the rainbow. She couldn't comfort herself, everything she thought of coordinated with what was going on. She started to sing a familiar hymn song, hoping that would help.
Suddenly, a large chunk of her wall broke off above her. It toppled over her, and she collapsed into unconsciousness. She was no longer singing Hymn songs any more .
. . .
Cody watched as her doorway started being pushed into the wall. He wasn't sure what to do, he couldn't do anything about it. He knew now why she was acting so suspicious, he knew that she must have done something to rescue them and failed. He didn't dare do anything else as he sat at his doorway, knowing nothing to do about it. He couldn't rescue her, he was too late, she could be anywhere now.
Now all that was left of her room was a big empty hole a few doorways above the other one. He was starting to think he had gone too far for his newly made friend. Every planet they had visited so far contained something dangerous that either hurt the one or the other and sometimes both of them. So far the planets he had taken her was something he thought was safe but really wasn't. Though he did have a little feeling that he shouldn't go here, but he did anyway. Now he regretted it, he regretted it more than anything else.
He had only met her a couple of weeks ago and, and oh he had so much more for her to explore too. But he hadn't exactly stopped time on Earth, he just slowed it down. He knew by now that dawn was just breaking over in America, it had been almost a few hours on earth compared to here. He had woken her up around five o'clock in the morning so it was about eight o'clock there now. He had already had another planet he wanted to go with her next, but it just sounds like the planet is going to have to be postponed, or never to be thought of again.
A tear streaked down Cody's white cheeks, he didn't want to cry. He got up and stood at the doorway. He closed his eyes, pleading underneath his breath. He took a step and he was suddenly in a schoolroom. A man was sitting in an open office in the schoolroom, probably grading. Cody entered the room and the young man looked up. He smiled.
"How are you doing sir, are you here for the waiting list?" He asked.
"No... I... I really don't know why I'm here." He said, not knowing what to say.
The man stood up and shut his laptop. He pulled off his reading glasses and closed the door. Cody started to feel uncomfortable, why was he doing that? The man sat back down and grinned.
"So I am guessing your the boy Kristen talked about." He said.
Cody nodded, unsure how he knew.
"She talked to me earlier today and we had a great talk. I was a teacher over at her school on Earth, see that I have never met you correct?" He asked.
"No you haven't met me before. And I am starting to think how I ended up here, I think it is because of Kristen. She tried to do something that I wasn't sure about, and before I knew it her room was being pushed into the wall." He choked.
The man stared at Cody in shock.
"I- I don't kn-know what to say. I-I tried to tell her not to do it, a-and she j-just didn't listen." He stuttered.
Cody slapped his hands on the desk. His face turning cherry red with anger.
"YOU KNEW ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!" He barked.
"I told her no, she tried to tell me the plan and I didn't like it one bit. I am not involved with it at all, I didn't even suggest it to her." He said, his voice shaking.
Cody's face wasn't red anymore, he calmed down and sat down on the chair in front of his desk.
"Tell me about her plan." He said, not keeping eye contact on the man.
The man told him about what they talked about, then how she started building up an idea. Then he talked about as soon as she had the plan she shared it and he disagreed to it completely. He wasn't hoping to have her do it on her own, he was hoping she would forget completely about it. Though Cody's face was not red any more, you could see his bright blue eyes bursting in flames, and his lips pressed together.
After the man finished, Cody stood up. This man gave her the idea without even realizing it, even if he didn't agree to it. He liked this man a lot, he was kind, but he just didn't like how he built her up to the idea. He stormed out of the mans office and out of his classroom until he was back in his bedroom. Before closing the door, he looked over at Kristy's empty hole then slammed his door shut. He laid on his bed, though he didn't go to sleep. That was because he was too angry to do so.
Chapter 8- No way out
Kristy inhaled a deep breath. She opened her eyes to realize she was still in her bedroom. It was trashed through thick and thin and there was a woman about in her middle twenties sitting next to her. She then realized that there was a piercing pain in her left leg. The woman was smoothing back her brown hair, making the pain feel somewhat better. She tried to look over to see why her foot was feeling so painful but there was a chunk of her ceiling toppled over it.
"It is all right, we are trying to take the ceiling off of you carefully so we won't create any more damage." The woman said softly.
Kristen nodded. She then noticed a man and a boy were carefully trying to pry the chunk of ceiling off her leg. It wasn't just the cement part of the ceiling that fell off, it had brought the pipes and planks with it. There was a massive hole in the ceiling of where the chunk used to be, and now it was toppled over Kristen. After a few minutes the two boys were able to pull off the chunk of ceiling off her legs, and her legs was free.
"Can you move your right leg?" She asked, Kristen nodded and bent her right leg, " What about your left?" She asked.
Kristen couldn't move her leg, she could still feel the pain even with her leg straight. She shook her head, the pain was too much to even bear. The woman bent over to her leg and carefully pushed up her jeans. The woman pulled back her long, blond hair and observed it more closely, then looked over at Kristen.
"Your legs not broken, it might just be a miner fracture. Oh, I'm Haley by the way. But just so you know, I know what I am doing, I was a nurse back at home." She said, not daring to roll her pants back up.
"My name's Kristen." She said, the words having trouble coming out.
Haley helped Kristen to sit up and and she felt the pain even worse. Haley started to carefully put it into a homemade cast. She had two planks that she pulled out from the fallen chunk of ceiling and took some cloth. Haley and the man made a chair with there hands and she helped Kristen hop on top of it.
"Your fracture won't last too long, its just minor. You do need to be in your bed, but right now your bedroom is too dangerous to be in. You can just sleep in my bedroom for a while until we fix your bedroom and you can have your room back, does that sound okay?" Haley asked as they opened the door.
Kristen noticed it wasn't the pit that was in front of her room, but a solid ground. It was a large circle, surrounding the circle were about a dozen doors. In the middle was a large circular table with a bowl of fruit on top of it. The room wasn't as bright as the pit, there were tiny lights across the walls, and it made it look dark and musty.
"This is technically our commons area for us. However way you got here, we all know that this area is for the people who try to escape. Though, the reason why there is not a lot of us is simple, everybody thinks we are dead." She said, leading Kristen to a door across the room.
"Everybody thinks we are dead?" She asked.
"Yep, nobody has ever returned back to the pit, so they think they got rid of us. There is no way to communicate within the people in the pit, we can only communicate with us who are in the same area as you. But you can't go to where ever you need to go at your free will here, most of what you need is already provided here without needing to go to other rooms. So your stuck here, everybody is, I'm sorry Kristen." Haley said as the younger boy opened the door.
The room was just a simple room. It had a queen size bed with old floral comforters and pillows. There was an old, falling apart, dresser at the corner of the room with an oil lamp. The carpet was tan and brown, matching everything else in the room. Kristen was expecting more than just a simple room, she was hoping a master bedroom with a massive bed and pretty bed covering, and a shiny dresser. But all she saw was just a simple room that a single young adult would live in.
"Sorry that it isn't like a resort. When I lived back on earth I had given all my good stuff to the poor and the needy, and now I am here with my grandparents old stuff since they had nowhere to go." She apologized.
"Its fine, I don't mind." She said as they helped her to the bed. Haley had grabbed a pillow from her room and she propped her leg up. She got tucked in under the blankets and Haley switched the fading light off.
"Dinner is in a couple of hours, just get some rest and I will fetch you when the time comes." Haley said and closed the door.
Kristen looked up at the water stained ceiling, wondering if she will ever escape. She was now stuck in an area impossible to go anywhere else besides here. It was a long time until she dozed off to sleep.
Kristen woke up, beside her was two homemade crutches that Haley must have made. She grabbed them and came outside. Everybody in the room (Or at least she thought), were all eating at the table. It was normal food, it wasn't the mush you would get in real jail cells. There was an empty seat and she came over to take it. It was just plain ole' cereal, that was all it was. She sat down in the seat next to Haley and enjoyed having a fresh bowl of cereal.
There was a girl sitting across from her. She didn't pay attention to what she was eating, sh just stared at her. Her eyes showed a look knowing not what to do. This girl so happened to be the girl who followed her, of course the girl was scared now that she got both of them into the mess. After Kristen finished her breakfast the girl went after her. Kristen sat on Haley's bed and the girl came over and sat next to her.
"Who are you?" Kristen asked the random girl that sat next to her.
"I have something to tell you." She said, she looked around her hoping nobody was listening, "I'm so, so very sorry I brought you into this mess." She cried.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"I followed you, I was the coffee server for Starvius and I wanted to escape. I had the chance when you came and I hoped I could follow you out. Then as I followed you we both had realized about the lock. So as you turned around I followed you back. As soon as I got to Starvius's office you had already left and I had got caught." The girl grabbed her arm, her eyes filling with tears. "Please forgive me, please oh please! He threatened then tortured me to get the words out and I just had to say what I did. I am so, so, so very sorry. I got both of us in this mess!" She sobbed
Kristen didn't know what to say. She knew she was risking a chance but she wasn't thinking that someone else was following her.
"I forgive you." Kristen said awkwardly.
The girl grinned.
"I'm Elizabeth by the way, but you can just call me Lizzie. What is yours." She asked, wiping the tears.
"Kristen." She said, still feeling awkward, "So who is this... Starvius?"
Lizzie stood up and looked around her again. Then silently closed the door in Haley's room, she then sat back down next to Kristen. She leaned over, as if whatever she was going to tell her was a secret.
"Starvius is the captain of this ship. I really can't say too much about him because there could be spies around here, but I can tell you one thing. And this one thing is something even his spies would agree with... he is not a nice man, in fact he is not even a man at all. He is a Kronolon and one of the worst ones you will ever meet." She stood up once again and reopened the door, "I have to go, sorry." She said and left the room.
Kristen got off the worn down bed and leaned against the outside wall of Haley's room. They had already put away the long table in the middle of the circular room, and she could see her room better. Half of the dozen people who lived in the asylum were working together to fix her collapsed bedroom. She realized some things were crushed and useless and some of her stuff was saved and ready to continued. Though she did feel bad that they have to do it for her because she is crippled right now. Her leg still felt soar and she couldn't move it without too much pain.
After a while of watching her room being fixed up she started thinking of a way out. She thought about the people in the Escape Asylum and knew that now many people probably dared to escape, those who had the courage to escape ended up here just like her. She knew she was stuck there forever, there really was no way out. Then she though about Cody, did he think she was dead, did he think she found a way out, or did he think she was lost in space. She hated this place since the beginning and neither Cody nor herself can leave from it.
A tear streaked down her cheek. She knew there was no way out, she knew it.
. . .
Cody didn't sleep the whole night. He thought he would never eat or sleep again. Kristen was dead, he knew it, he absolutely knew it. He looked over at the empty, black hole haunting him through the soul. He didn't know what they did exactly, but his thought were maybe they released her room out to space and loose oxygen, or be crushed as it goes further in the tunnel. He didn't really get the thought that she was just sent somewhere as a severe punishment for escaping.
After a few days he finally started eating a little more, and getting more sleep. He would go to Mr. Strauss for comfort sometimes and Mr. Strauss tried to eat with him at mealtimes. He still had Kristen in his mind arguing with itself whether she was dead or not. Then one day he sat at the table with Mr. Strauss, too much in thought.
Suddenly he slammed his fork on the table and stood up. At first Mr. Strauss thought he was just angry, but he was actually happy. His cheeks grew red with excitement and he left the room, Mr. Strauss followed. Cody was back in his room, he grabbed a notebook and returned back to the kitchen.
"What is with all the excitement." Mr. Strauss asked.
"Maybe Kristen is not dead, maybe she was sent somewhere else. Maybe she is kept captive somewhere within the ship, and we don't know anything because we can't communicate with each other. So if it is a possibility she is not dead then we need to find out for sure. So if we can just find a way to get to that hole over there and follow the tunnel, then we can find where they had taken her. We got to give it a try!" Cody said, already jotting down ideas.
Mr. Strauss agreed to it and they both went into his classroom. They sat at the student desks and starting thinking of good ideas to get over to the empty hole in the wall. After they got there final idea jotted down, they went back to there bedrooms hoping the plan will work. Mr. Strauss wasn't going to be too much involved with the plan, but if it didn't work then he would do plan B with himself. So Cody waited for the time to come.
Midnight hit and Cody slipped out of bed. He kept the light off to keep it dark so the camera wouldn't see him. He felt for the closet and silently pulled out a fifty foot long of rope. He reached in his Pajamas pocket and pulled out a hook to tie on the rope. He blindly tied the rope in the loop of the hook and untangled the rope. The light of the camera wasn't even on when he came to the door, he was glad it hadn't noticed he was awake. Cody silently opened the door a crack and peered over at the empty hole across the pit. He slowly opened the door wide open and lassoed the hook.
He missed and tried it again, the hook missed once again. He sighed and tried it another time and the hook caught on the light outside her room. He listened carefully and heard a tiny click of the special hook locking. He tied his side of the rope to his own light. Then he pressed the rope down, hoping it was sturdy enough. He then grabbed unto the rope with both hands, and wrapped his legs around it. He was hoping to slide down to her room since it was just slightly below him. He scooted further down the rope, getting faster and faster every move.
Suddenly the rope hooked to his own light unloosened and he went swinging away from her room. He clutched on tightly against the rope as he hit hard against a door underneath Kristen's empty hole. He started to climb up to the hole until the hook broke and he was falling with the rope into the pit. But with his fast reflexes, he managed to grab unto the edge of the empty hole where the last girl got pushed in below Kristen. He was shaking so much he couldn't pull himself into the hole.
He didn't dare look down, his hands were begging to get clammy. Cody swung his feet back and forth, hoping one of his legs to catch the edge of the tunnel. His hands were slipping more and more until he managed to lift his leg to the edge of the tunnel. He got himself into the hole and laid on the cold, black ground. He was still holding the rope, so he tied it to the light on the tunnel and had it as his trail as he treks through the tunnel. He fastened the rope around his waist then continued onward, hoping it won't bring him to a dead end.
He had put a flashlight in his pocket before he left and felt around for it. It had disappeared, and his compass as well. Cody muttered something in frustration, but knew to continue with or without light. At least he still had the rope, so just in case he got lost he could follow the rope back to the beginning of the tunnel. With one hand he felt around for corners and walls, and his other hand held unto the broken hook that worked well as a weapon.
His rope suddenly ended, he knew this would happen. He didn't want to go back and let it continue on, and he didn't want to continue without the rope. But the rope was only about fifty feet long and he couldn't go that far with it. He pulled the rope off his waist and left the rope on the ground as he continued on through the dark and dreary tunnel. He listened carefully for noises and kept the sharp side of the hook ready to attack. He felt four little feet crawl across his feet and he jumped, he knew it was probably just a rat. He started to be more careful on not stepping on rats and mice that were infested in the tunnel.
For what seemed like hours, Cody felt like he could give up. The tunnel never seemed to end, it just kept on going on and on. It never turned off or came upward or downward so far and the only sign of life was the rats and mice running around the dark tunnel. He didn't dare turn back around, he knew there would have to be an end to the tunnel somewhere.
Suddenly, he felt his foot step into nothing. The tunnel went down, he didn't jump for joy though. He didn't want to go back and fetch the rope, he didn't even know how deep the pit was. He felt around, hoping to find something useful and found a stick like thing on the ground. He then figured that this must have fallen out of the girls room, it was small enough to fit underneath the crack. He felt the small, floppy stick and couldn't figure out what it was. He then bent it and saw a glow at where he bent it.
It was a glow stick. Cody bent it in different spots until it was glowing all the way. He wasn't sure whether he should use it as his light source, or use it to know how deep the tunnel was. He decided to choose option one first. He looked around the edge of the pit and found tracks on the sides. The tracks were probably used to help the room go down the pit carefully without crashing at the bottom. He sighed. Cody could barely reach one of the tracks on the side of the wall.
He got into his knees and reached his foot towards a tie. He put the glow stick in his mouth and hopped on one of the ties of the track. He carefully took a step down, making sure not to miss a single step. He kept his eyes on the track, not even daring to look down in the deep, dark hole. Suddenly, he felt a mouse hit him while climbing down the track and the glow stick fell out of Cody's mouth. He watched it as it went further and further down the hole, he knew he had a lot to go until he reaches the bottom. It was now pitch dark once again, making it even more difficult to go down.
After hours of climbing straight down the track, he started to see the glow stick on the bottom. Half an hour later he felt solid ground and picked up the glow stick. He kissed it and then held it in front of him with a big smile. The tunnel turned off towards the right and Cody followed it, then it turned towards the left a little while later. His feet were soar and worn out, his muscles felt tense. He knew he had probably traveled for miles on end without realizing it, and he knew he had more to go. Soon he gave up on walking and was eventually crawling on his hands and knees hoping to find the end of the tunnel.
A couple hours later and it turned off another corner once again. He didn't even want to crawl any more, but he didn't dare take a rest. He needed to find the end of the tunnel, he couldn't stop now. But Cody's arms failed him after crawling for a long while more and he dug his face in the cement ground. He laid there motionless for a few minutes then got back up to his feet. He then realized something. About a quarter of a mile ahead of him,he could see a tiny lit up dot. He wasn't sure what it was but he knew it was going to be something good.
He continued towards the light. Soon the tiny dot looked more like a lit up square. He dragged himself against the wall as he came closer and closer the square being more visible. After what seemed like a long time, he realized what the square was as he came up to it. It was a window, and he knew he had reached the end of the tunnel. Cody came up to the window and put his hands over it. Blinds were covering his view to get inside. Cody started pounding against the window hoping to catch the girls attention. Suddenly, he saw a shadow of a short girl come towards the window. Cody kept on pounding until the blinds were pulled up and Cody was facing the young blond haired girl across the window.
The girl seemed confused, but opened the window.
"How did you end up there?" She asked.
"I took your tunnel and it led me here. Can I come in through your window?" Cody asked.
"Even though I do not know you one bit. Sure." She said.
Cody climbed through the window and stood in a large room with light blues and bright pinks. The girl offered Cody a seat and he sat on her bright blue bed. Cody told the girl about how he got there and how he was looking for Kristen. The girl wasn't sure that Kristen was in her division. She never remembered another person coming into the asylum. At first Cody wasn't sure what to say, then she told him about how this was the trick asylum for those who tricked Starvius into stuff and got caught. She mentioned that maybe Kristen was in the Escape Asylum.
"So she is not here?" Cody asked, after asking multiple times.
"No, she is not. I'm sorry. I am also sorry that you can't go back to go into her tunnel."
"Wait, I can go back. I just need to follow the tunnel back to the beggining. Why do you think I can't go back?" Cody asked
"Because those who come in can't come out. Your stuck here Cody, I'm sorry."
Chapter 9- The Tele drive
Kristen's leg seemed to heal quickly. She could nearly walk on it now, she just has to wait a few days. She had moved back into her bedroom just a couple of days ago, and was getting to know more about the people in the asylum. Some of the people didn't even try to escape, Starvius just thought they did. All of the twelve of them in the asylum wanted to leave the ship completely. Some had been there for years and years, some for only a couple of years, and some of them had just gotten there as in the last month.
Though all of them were good people, she became good friends with Lizzie. Haley was good to her, but she was technically the leader of the asylum, loves everyone and does anything for them. Her and Lizzie always hanged out with each other making it a little more fun within the Escape Asylum. They seemed to have the same personality and got along well.
But that day Lizzie had been in her room all day. Kristen knew her enough that when she closes her door she always locked it. So she kept out of the way, not wanting to disturb what she has going on right now. For only a couple of times did she come out to go to the bathroom or eat lunch and breakfast, but most of the time was in her room. Then dinner came along and Lizzie came out to have dinner with the rest of them. she didn't seem depressed or out of place, in fact she looked like she was up to something.
Dinner ended and Lizzie started to head straight to her bedroom once again. Kristen went after her(For her leg had healed completely now), but Lizzie just slammed the door in her face.
"Lizzie, please. Can I come in?" Kristen pleaded.
There was no response. Kristen leaned against her door and sighed. The door just so happened to not be locked and it swung open. Kristen fell into Lizzie's room and she heard a gasp in a corner. She looked over at the corner of Lizzie's room and spotted her hiding something behind her back. Kristen came up to her.
"What is that Lizzie?" She asked.
Kristen was was able to snatch it from her hands. It was a tiny blue laptop.
"I-I found it i-in Starvius's office. I wanted to know what it does." She stuttered.
Kristen observed the laptop, wondering why it seemed to familiar to her. Suddenly she pressed a button and the laptop folded up into a tiny, blue flashdrive. It suddenly clicked.
"This is Cody's Teleportation drive. He had it taken away while we got here." Kristen said as she pressed the button again and it turned back into a laptop.
"We have a way out Lizzie. This is our way out." Kristen exclaimed.
Lizzie brightened up and snatched the laptop back. Kristen looked over and saw that she was typing in 'CODY' into the download box. She knew that Lizzie was probably programming the drive to where Cody was. Kristen started to brighten up as it excepted it and started to load on the screen. They both waited until it said the program was complete. They grinned at each other.
Kristen knew what to do now. She folded the laptop back into its original shape and looked around for an object. She pulled her shoe off and slipped the drive into it. Lizzie stared in amazement at Kristen's shoe as it glowed brightly. After a few minutes it got back to its normal dirty color.
"Okay, what I learned from Cody is to just simply touch it as soon as the glowing stops. We need to have one hand touching the shoe and one hand holding each others. So as I count to three, we both touch it okay?" She said.
Lizzie agreed and Kristen counted to three. As soon as she said three they both touched it. Lizzie shut her eyes tightly as they traveled through the whirl wind of color. She knew Cody was close so it won't take that long, but the trip seemed to last longer than she thought. It was still going and it seemed a long time. She could feel the wind getting knocked out of her more than ever. Lizzie was bursting into silent tears, and both of there faces were turning pale with lack of oxygen.
Suddenly, they felt it end and they were shot into the ground.
Kristen took a gasp of air and sat up. It looked like she was in a tent, like a camping tent you would find on Earth. She looked beside her and saw Lizzie pulling on a pair of Tennis shoes. It felt like she was back at home on a camping trip.
"Where are we?" Kristen asked.
"I don't know, but it is defiantly not where Cody is." Lizzie responded.
Kristen slipped back on her shoes that were laid nicely next to the tent door, and they both went out. It was a forest just like you would find in the mountains on earth. Another tent was close by and a boy scout about twelve years old came out of it. As soon as he found them he ran off. He returned with the boy scout leader. He came up to them and smiled.
"Hello girls, are you feeling any better?" He asked.
They both nodded.
The leader led them to the main part of the scout camp offered them a seat on the picnic benches.
"We found you two a little off from our camp. We tried to find where you guys belonged to, but nobody claimed you guys. We weren't sure what to do with you, so we let you sleep in one of our tents. So how did you end up where you were, do you remember?" He asked.
"We got here by accident." Lizzie said.
"How so?"
"We ah, we don't remember." Kristen lied, unsure whether they believe in teleportation traveling.
"Hmmm, well my scouts are leaving today to go back home and I don't know what to do with you two. Maybe you can just stay at my house for a while until I find your family or family's" He said.
"Okay. But can we ask you something?" Kristen asked.
"Sure, totally."
"Um, did you or your scouts find anything inside one of my shoes?" She asked.
The leader nodded and pulled out a ball of mud.
" I am not sure what it is but it is quite unusual." He said handing it to Kristen.
It was defiantly the tele drive. Kristy thanked him and put it in her pocket. The scouts were already packing away there tents and stuffing them in the leaders truck. They found out the scout leader wanted to be called Mr. Conroy. A few hours later Mr. Conroy let them in his truck and he took them out of the campground. The street was paved and looked just like streets you would find on Earth, his truck too.
Once they were out of the canyon it felt like they were both in the city back home. Everything looked normal, as if this wasn't a different planet. They both started to think that maybe they were on Earth.
"Um what planet is this?" Kristen hesitated to ask.
"Excuse me, do you not remember even what planet you have lived on your entire life?" He asked, his eyes one the road.
"Well, we just forgot the name." Lizzie lied.
"Then you must have lost a lot of memory. We are on Codie do you remember now?" He asked.
Both of the girls looked sad to realize this was not Earth or Cody himself.
"Yah, it just clicked." Kristen said.
Mr. Conroy turned off the street and drove into a large sub division. He drove through it for a while until he parked into a modern house. It seemed unusual to find a home that looks just like the ones on there world. They weren't even sure if they should really dare to enter it. They despised the fact that they had accidentally landed on a planet almost exactly like Earth, and not where Cody is.
When they entered the house, Mr. Conroy led them to the guest bedroom. They sat on the beds and sat there for a moment, thinking of what they had just done.
"How did you spell Cody?" Kristen asked.
"I spelled it like how all Cody's are named, C-O-D-I-E." She said.
"Not all Cody's are spelled like that Lizzie. This Cody spelled it like C-O-D-Y." Kristen exclaimed
Lizzie covered her mouth, realizing it was her fault that she just got them into this mess. Kristen got up and sat next to Lizzie. She held the drive in her hand, unsure how to exactly operate it. She pressed the button and the drive turned into its other shape. The screen was the most unusual. It was green with dark green letters. The program itself seemed different and hard to understand. She didn't understand how even Cody knew how to operate this.
"How did you do this?" Kristen asked.
"It wasn't hard, it was just a few things here and there." She said.
Kristen blinked several times, it was making her dizzy just looking at it. And she hadn't even started anything yet. She closed her eyes and handed the laptop to Lizzie.
"Are you not a computer person?" Lizzie asked.
"Well, I can use computers just not that one."
"How come?"
"It's hurting my eyes for some reason, it is completely different than the kind I use at home."
"But this is the same program you can use on your normal home computer can't you tell the similarities?"
"No, no I cannot."
Lizzie sighed and started to figure out the program once again. Kristen moved back to her own bed and laid down. She was feeling lightheaded and and dizzy as if the computer put a curse upon her. She closed her eyes and took a nap, hoping the dizziness would go away.
Meanwhile, Lizzie started doing the programming (that she wasn't sure how she did it last time). Though, it didn't make her dizzy or lightheaded while looking at the screen. She saw the screen as a white color with black letters and numbers, nothing of shades of green. She didn't really understand that Kristen was seeing things such as that.
Though it was only noon on Codie, it was midnight in the United States. It been a few hours since they had come to the planet and Kristen decided to stay away from the laptop and let Lizzie deal with it. Lizzie had fallen asleep a couple of hours before and the laptop had turned back into a drive. Kristen felt wide awake and took a stroll around the neighborhood. After a few minutes of taking a good walk, she started to wonder if they were still in the Triton Galaxy. She ran back to Mr. Conroy.
"Mr. Conroy, I am wondering if you have a computer around?" She asked.
"Why yes I do, what do you need to use it for?" He asked.
"Oh, I need to look up something." She said.
Mr. Conroy seemed confused. He looked around him and rubbed his head.
"What does 'look up' mean?" He asked
"It means... it means... it means to find information about something." She said, now understanding this planet doesn't know everything.
Mr. Conroy understood and led her to an odd looking computer in an office. He turned it on and Kristy looked at the screen, it was as messed up as Cody's computer. Kristen fell out of her seat and rubbed her head, the dizziness coming back to her. Mr. Conroy came over and helped her back to her feet.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"Yah, I just got cut off guard for a second there." She said.
"Well, I think the computer is the wrong thing to mess with now. What were you going to "Look up"?" He asked, trying to use the 'look up' word.
"I wanted to...I wanted to find what galaxy we are in." She hesitated.
"Well why didn't you say so, not a lot of people know what galaxy this planet is in. We are in the Snap galaxy." He said.
Kristen moved away from him. She didn't feel dizzy any more, but frightened about the thought of being in a complete different galaxy. She wasn't hoping to be in a different galaxy besides her own or the Triton. She shook her head and ran to her room. Lizzie woke up in alert to see Kristen's face in front of her.
"We are not in Triton galaxy Lizzie. Can you see where Snap Galaxy is?" She asked.
Lizzie sat up and grabbed the drive and turned it back to the laptop. She quickly typed up something and gasped. She looked up at Kristen.
"Snap galaxy is over 2 billion galaxies away from the Triton Galaxy, that is why we had such a ruff time getting here. The computer asked me to tell it what galaxy I am in and I wasn't sure what to say. I was going to ask Mr. Conroy after my little nap. Thank you for telling me." She said.
Lizzie started to do more programming and then snapped.
"I got it, hopefully it will take us to Cody. I had also made a mistake about whether it was a person place or thing. They thought I meant place."
Lizzie typed in Cody into the box and it excepted it as human. She grinned and pressed the download button. She looked up at Kristen who was completely speechless.
"Go find something Kristen, we are getting out of here." She cheered.
Kristen looked around her and found a flashlight with the batteries pulled out of it. She opened it up and Lizzie handed her the tele drive. She put it in the flashlight and the lighbulb lit up. They both smiled at each other, happy that it at least made it to this point. A few minutes later and the light bulb turned off as if the light bulb burnt out. Without hesitating they both grabbed hold of the flashlight and they disappeared off of the planet.
A few minutes later they both landed hard in a dark room. Kristen stood up and rubbed her head. A small light above them flipped on and Kristen saw Lizzie beside her, shading her eyes in the bright light. A figure stood in a doorway close by. Kristen stood up and ran after the boy, giving him a grateful hug. Lizzie just smiled, but didn't get up to go towards Cody.
"Oh Cody, I missed you so much." She cried, her arms still wrapped around him.
She then let go of him and looked at him face to face.
"I want to go home Cody, I want to see my family again." She said , her face turning more serious.
"What about our goal, we were going to go see the planet in the outskirts of the galaxy. We were going to go explore more planets and just take one planet at a time." Cody took a step closer to Kristen, "We have only explored one galaxy, only one. There is still more to go."
"We can do that another day, but right now I want to go home." She said
Cody put his head down and nodded. Kristen handed him the flashlight and he left the empty grey room. A few minutes later he returned with a small bag and the drive. He put it in the bag and placed it on the ground.
"I programmed it to fetch Mr. Strauss while on our way, so he gets to see his family too." He said.
Cody didn't seem too fond of going back. You could tell he wanted to go on and continue his quest he had been longing for. He sighed and counted to three. Before Kristen could say anything else her, Lizzie, and Cody went through the dark blurs through space. Mr. Strauss had suddenly appeared beside Kristen as they were traveling, and a few minutes later they ended up on the roof of some tall building.
Cody crawled over to the edge of the building and peered over. Everybody was left unconscious on the roof, except for Cody. He looked back over at Kristen and mouthed something to her. He was holding the bag in his hand. He pulled the teleportation drive out of the bag and pressed a button not even Kristen knew about. Suddenly he disappeared by a flash of light and everybody woke up.
Kristen sat up and looked around her. She stood up in alarm trying to look for Cody, but he was nowhere in sight. She came over to the edge of the roof, her eyes filling with tears.
"Good bye Cody." She said as a tiny streak of light came through the sky.
A hand laid on Kristen's shoulder and she looked up at Mr.Strauss. Lizzie was on the other side of her. The three of them looked up at the sky, unsure what to say. Cody left Kristen without saying goodbye, but he had a reason. She just didn't know it.
Authors note: I was thinking of making a series of this story. Of course it I turned it into a real book I would have to make it longer. It does seem like a long story, but if I split this so it would be a book it would be a pretty small book. Maybe about 75 to 100 pages, if not then I must have done my calculations wrong. If you want to continue than I am probably going to start sooner or later, I have already got the beginning planned. I bet I did make a lot of mistakes, but you know this is just a rough draft. I typed it right here, I thought of this story as I wrote it on this website. Well anyway, just wanted to say what I thought.
