Okay, so I just got back from my first ninth grade dance. There has been other ones, but I haven't really taken the time to go to them, so this carnival festival dance was what I went to for 9th grade. There was popcorn and cotton candy, a fun photo booth, a raffle, and a face painting booth. So I did all of that accept for the face paint.
Anyway, so now let's get to the boys. I know, roll your eyes, I danced with boys what do you know. The first guy I danced with had no clue, it was boy's choice and I was trying to egg him to ask me without saying it straight on if he wants to dance with me. It had to take my friend, Rebecca, to shove him in front of me before he finally asked me if I wanted to dance.
The next guy was just my friend Nicholas, he was fun, and it wasn't as funny as the last one. The next one was actually a special needs student that I taught last year. He just has some learning disabilities and he doesn't talk much or show any emotions, so it's hard to predict him. So I thought I'd better ask him, he accepted, but stayed pretty quiet most of the time. It wasn't awkward that we weren't talking, it was just fun that I got to dance with him.
The other guy I danced with was a boy in my ward (who hasn't claimed it to me yet, but his mother told my mother that he likes me, and obviously my mother told me. Though I just like him as a friend right now). He was fun, I thought it would be a little awkward, but it wasn't so. He was trying to hide all of his excitement by just giving off a small smile, but I could just see it in his eyes.
I have one friend named Kady, who has like five different crushes and they all just so happen to be at the dance. Though she couldn't take the courage to ask any of them, and her crush #1 was the one she wanted to dance with. At first I told her she has to ask him, but then it came to the second to last slow song and I had to help her. So I pulled her to that boy and told him that Kady wants to dance with him. It was almost instant, as if he's been wanting to dance with her this entire time. So they danced and I looked around for a boy to dance.
Their I saw Devin, I just like him as a friend, but our friendship relationship has been odd. In seventh and eighth grade we were great friends, we played around, we had fun. But then ninth grade came and for some random reason Devin started ignoring me completely. I said hi, nothing. I ask how he is doing, nothing. I ask if we could hang out, nothing. He ignores me, he doesn't show any face expressions to me. It's just... a blank face. I'm not sure if he feels awkward around me or if he likes me, or if he hates me, or if he just can't be around girls at the moment. Though I don't understand it. I don't understand boys like that. So to really find out what was going on (And I still don't understand him even now), I asked to dance with me on that second to last slow dance. He didn't hesitate, but it wasn't instant, he just have a small sure and awkwardly started dancing. I tried to start a conversation, but it was so awkward my mind was blank with stuff. He avoided eye contact with me and he gave almost a frowny neutral face. But because he was making it so awkward, I couldn't look at him either. I tried to start a conversation and it ended quickly, none of the conversations went through the song, it was just... awkward.
Anyway, so on the last dance, after the last experience, I thought no more guy dancing. For one thing it was guys choice, and I knew I wouldn't get chosen. But then my friend named, Josh runs up to me asking me to dance. He was the only that actually asked me to dance, I asked the others. He was a good ending, we danced a little differently than the other dances and it was no awkward whatsoever. For we are good friends and this was just fun for us.
Guys, I don't understand some of them. NO, all of them. I may get along with some of them but am good friends with them, but I don't understand them, and I don't think they understand me either. Why can't guys understand girls and girls understand boys! Waaaa! It's so frustrating. Anyway, the dance was still fun, even if times were a bit awkward and how I frustrated myself because I don't understand guys.
So I went through normal school and went to a fun dance in the commons. That was my day.
