Girls camp was fun. We stayed in someones front yard near Manti and went to the Manti pageant, we went swimming at a beautiful lake, we attempted to hike up a beautiful valley and sorts. Sleepwalking at girls camp wasn't as bad as youth conference. A few first years just admitted they saw me walking around in the blink of the night. This year was my first year as a YCL, I'm actually a fourth year, but I got to be a YCL too, over the first years. It was fun and exciting and I'm happy to be a YCl again next year too.
At the lake, there is a tiny square floating dock. Our little young womens ward, took our paddleboats and boards and all played on that dock. It was fun, but as I was going back to shore to get more young women, I looked over to see a flock of boys. Tons of them. At least fifty, much more than how many women in our ward. And when they saw those girls on that dock, they freaked out.
Literally, just like a beeline, those boys swam over to the dock. The girls went crazy. I just sat there laughing my head off as the girls rushed to the edge of the dock. The boys, obviously trying to show off, hopped aboard and started shoving each other off. Then one girls pushed one boy into the water and chaos started. But it didn't last long until their leader got after them and called them back.
They returned a few hours later. By then, the girls had enough. We left right after they returned. With this, I had written a poem about this lake incident, I was inspired and the entire ward had a great laugh.
Here it is:
One afternoon on a girlscamp day
23 teenage girls went to the lake to play
They took their canoes and their boats
Their bodies bundled up in floating coats
There they sailed to a small little dock
They crammed upon it and there they flocked
They had loads of fun, for there was nothing wrong
That was until the boys came along
Fifty, fifty, fifty or more
The teenage boys arrived on shore
They saw them tanning, they saw Kara's curls
And there they hollered, "GIRLS!!!"
Just like a beeline, they headed to the dock
The girls perked up and screamed in shock
There they came like a bustling herd
they started to panic, for they weren't so sure
Some of the boys were hot, some her hotter
And Sydnee pushed one into the water
The boys showed off, they tried to look cool
It was working, until they pushed McCall in the pool
Suddenly chaos happened on the dock
For it started to sink and it started to rock
They boys fell in, the girls did too
They boys were laughing, the girls were thru
Then the boys leader said time to go
The boys were bummed, for they had something to show
The girls finally relaxed, they basked in the sun
They it was over, they knew they had won
The time, the girls, weren't keeping track
They didn't notice when the boys came back
The girls thought that some were hot
But they had to escape, hot or not
They hopped in their bots and paddled away
The girls escaped, none were to stay
The girls put away, the girls went home
They didn't know that they were to return during the Manti Show
Alright, I will be brief about youth conference. We did repelling, we did rock climbing, we did tons of spiritual things and slept in Barracks.
Now about the Barracks.
I slept walked the first night. Nobody witnessed me get out of bed, but I have proof that I slept walked. I woke up on the other side of the Barracks. Confused, I thought I was just beside my bed, so I lied back down. I freaked out when I found that someone was sleeping in this bed and she wasn't in my ward. She started mumbling and she woke up, freaking both me and her out. I shot out of her bed, searching for my own by feeling each persons feet. I had gone about twenty or more beds before feeling a blank one. I knew it was mine because I recognized the blanket, so I went back to sleep. That was a freaky night, for the poor girl that I didn't even know was so freaked out, she didn't sleep in the Barracks the next night. I was freaked out too, for I had slept walk and I was awake when I lied on her. Woopsie Daisy. So there is my stories. Girls camp and youth Conference.
